Right because there have never been single proprietorships, partnerships, cooperatives, or joint stock companies before the existence of modern corporations.

So how many shareholders of corporations have been forced to give up their houses to creditors or the corporation?

Corporations are a government supported means for capitalists to privatize profits while avoiding personal responsibility if the company fails (socializing losses).

That’s my point. You claimed no one would have any jobs if it wasn’t for corporations.

That’s separate. That personal debt. Not debt owned by the corporation.

You can’t claim it supports corporations because the modern concept did t even exist when Smith was writing.

Yes, please support this with evidence.

Or you could just admit that corporations exist and it’s good that they do, while also acknowledging that they act as a form of socialism for the rich.

Smith did not care whether a business was one or two or 10,000 people. HE would have marveled at the efficiency of huge corporations and the huge standard of living they give us that supports 8 billion people who would other wise be dead.

No, I’m cool with corporations existing. I just don’t lie about what they are.

socialism when you go bankrupt unless you have the best jobs and products in the world? Socialism is about guaranteed welfare . Nothing is guaranteed for a corporation unless it raises our standard of living faster than any other.

they are Gods that produce our jobs and products that keep 8 billion of us alive. without which we'd all be dead, or living at an 19th Century standard of living.

Smith would be horrified at the idea of a legally invented “person” that lets shareholders totally divorce personal responsibility from profits and losses, especially when shown examples of corporations going under, leaving their workers in the lurch, but making sure to give their executives golden parachutes.

He’d rightfully compare them to the Royal Companies of his day that let monarchs do the same thing.

Why did you selectively quote my post rather than addressing the whole thing?

Are you unable to debate without deliberately misrepresenting your opponent, aka LYING?
