Is iran one of the most western states in the ME in terms of mentality?

Hitler wanted to control all the oil from the Caspian to the Persian Gulf. He never got to first base. The USSR never had any control or influence over the ME....

I can see people being upset about that. But I would have to take a long look at this so-called "democratic" process in 1953. I have not, but I suspect that it was probably not as democratic as people like to claim.

Because Truman forced them out of Iran in 1946.

As your county's biggest oil supplier your comments scare the living sh*t out of me. What would happen to my family if Canada freely elected someone like Pierre Trudeau again(an anti-American former Prime Minister in the 1970s)? Would American desire to create "stability" in our country not threaten our lives? Would incredibly arrogant and incredibly ignorant American soldiers use "prevention of the collapse of modern society" as justification to blow my two girls' heads off? Your belief that you are preventing the collapse of modern society is what you tell yourself so that you can sleep at night. What you're really doing is killing innocent people so that Americans can keep their privileged way of life. There is NOTHING noble in that.

We aren't blowing little girls' heads off. And the fact that the enemy places little girls and other civilians in areas they know the US will attack, just so they can inflame the passions of those like you, further leads me to believe I am on the right side. And the world needs oil, not just the US. I'm not worried about the US; we will survive without the ME. But I'm not so sure about many other societies around the world. And I'm not so sure we won't get drawn into the chaos without ME oil supplying those countries.

PEOPLE WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH US. PEOPLE WANT TO SELL THEIR OIL. I refuse to allow armed bandits with religious causes to prevent free trade.

Btw, I am not justifying any of this. I'm simply stating the situation, so we can at least work on a solution. The solution is NOT immediately packing up and leaving the Middle East.

    You don't kill innocent people?

    What about this? http://www.collateralmurder.com/

    or this?http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article30034.htm

    or this? http://www.globalresearch.ca/ten-years-after-the-invasion-america-destroyed-iraq-but-our-war-crimes-remain-unacknowledged-and-unpunished/5327037

    or this? http://www.alternet.org/story/58101/accustomed_to_their_own_atrocities_in_iraq%2C_u.s._soldiers_have_become_murderers

I could go on and on.

War is a terrible thing and should only be used as a last resort and NOT as justification for "free trade." But it's not a real war when only one side pays the price is it?

I clicked on the first link and noticed the Wiki heli video. Yeah bad things happen in war. You shouldn't be palling around with guys with RPG's and guns in a war zone. What do you expect the military to do to guys with guns? Especially guys with guns, who just a few blocks down the street were using those guns to kill your fellow soldiers.

Uh huh, so the Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodians deliberately put their civilians in the path of your indiscriminate carpet bombing during that conflict? Note the word "indiscriminate". America didn't give a f*ck who they bombed, civilian or military. You still lost the war despite your military might, and people in the region to this day are still being killed and maimed as a result of all the unexploded munitions left behind. What did America achieve?
Will America ever get anything right? You blunder around the globe like a bull in a china shop, pissing everyone off and essentially acting like the playground bully. When payback happens all we hear is foot-stamping, whining and expressions of shocked outrage. I mean, how dare people fight back!

As far as the Middle East is concerned America's attitude appears to be 'our oil under their soil...'
