Israel considering law to ban photographing or filming of IDF soldiers

I live in the US and the media is usually against Israel. It is interesting to see you use the word, Barbarism, being used to describe the only land in the region where it is safe to be Jewish, Christian, Muslim, non-Muslim, atheist, gay, female, or have an opinion of your own. Palestinians are nothing more than expendable pawns for anti-Semites.

 

The problem here is two fold. It is not just Israel, it is Islam as well. As long as Jews believe they have more rights than others because of their persecution, and Muslims believe Islam supersedes other faiths and therefore is entitled to more rights, there will never be peace - that is unless they both come to their senses.

Muslims believe any land they have lived on is holy land, therefore it must always be a part of Islam. Also, if they are not a majority in the lands they live on, and under their own laws, they considered themselves oppressed. Islam to them must always triumph since they feel it has superseded Christianity as Christianity has superseded Judaism. The difference is of course is that while in Christianity the superseding is seen as purely spiritual, in Islam it is political as well.

I recall a Palestinian spokeswoman saying that they are being humiliated, but why? Christians don't feel humiliated, so is the humiliation she was talking about a projection of the dhimmitude Islam had imposed on non Muslims? Did she feel the Palestinians were now in a state of 'servitude' towards the Jews - and could the actions of the Israelis be perpetuating it?

These are things to ponder.

 

I love the USA and US media. USA is the land of the free and the brave. And this is also reflected through their media.

There isn't safety in Israel. It is a war zone since many decades.

 

While most of the media I am exposed to is slanted against Israel, I can see that the problems Palestinians face are self-inflicted. Containing them is the only way to keep buses and cafes from being blown up. Maybe the solution is to keep things the way they are now. Its not like the hate for Jews is going away any time soon.

 

In fact, it maybe is too free, as far as journalistic concerns are applied (rather than law). Being "free" doesn't mean "becoming entertainment with no informative value" neither.

But yes, the US generally resists, to this day, the pressures we see in many EU and Commonwealth countries about restraining free speech that hinders some.

 

Well, as a Micronesian I am offended. Going to burn up my straw skirt in protest. They must have some matches down at the US mil base.

 

Some people wish we could put the Jews in boxcars and ship them off to "resettlement camps", maybe in Poland or eastern Germany.

It's free but not very free. In one it comes in at about 45, UK at around 40, Israel over 80. I don't think either the UK or the US is particularly free and getting less and less so. So much material in the US is no longer allowed to be written about for 'security' or because of who it is about and with the US that would be any negative material against Israel...so it is not saying the US is particularly free and in addition as you say a lot of what they do say is lies. The US like to argue that they still have this wonderful free speech. They don't but as you say, they are free to write a load of crap.

That's a whole load of crap. Jews are safe pretty much everywhere in the Levant - maybe more than in Europe. There's a whole lot of them in Iran. It's Israelis that are hated (and for excellent reasons) in the levant, not the Jews. And the ones that put a wedge between jews and muslims, the ones that set up apartheid were not arabs - they were jews.

American jews, as a group (hence the generalities) are a progressive, rather liberal bunch. But makes them tolerated by the right-wingers are two things: A) their mythical status as godly angels who are perpetual victims of our barbarism, something that was done with success by the Holocaust Industry (N. Finkelstein), and B) the jews zeal and extremism when come the time to enter any war for Israel. Right-wingers love hawks who get them involved in useless, endless wars halfway across the globe. So now, although it still has to be voted on, the Israeli government is at the point where she ignores her Supreme Court - is she still in any way calling herself a democracy?

 

of course and quite a lot of them, probably most of them belong to the Christian Right (estimated 100,000,000 Americans) who are not supporting Israel for anything to do with Jews but because they want to see what they believe it says in their bibles come into being. If, and if very definitely is looking like a possibility but if, fascism becomes entrenched in the US most people believe it will be with the ideology of the American Christian Right and one of the things I am pretty certain they will do is deport all American Jews to Israel - that is because they must be there as their bible tells them so. Then if things work out for them all but around 140,000 who become Christians will die in Armageddon. Extreme Right American Jews collude with them and that is the reason the US has been supporting every ill Israel does since Carter failed to get his second term.
