Scandinavian countries didn't have 'perfect' systems for longer than a picosecond. As soon as their very carefully balanced monocultures were altered, the system started to fail.

Go back to the thirties. Eugenics was Margaret Sanger's calling card.

In which case, can you explain why adult Progressives are unable to understand that enabling is cruel, when even a child can figure it out? Consider, it's generally asserted that Progressives are more educated and intelligent than everyone else, so that can't be true. The only explanation therefore, is that it's deliberate. Ergo .. eugenics.

I do not know how to design a Perfect System. I can estimate how much work it would take -- several thousand expert-years.

It's close enough to 100% to make arguing exceptions a joke. We must always focus on the majority, in any discussion on homelessness.

Pretending that the homeless are hard-working, decent, people who're innocent victims of (a veritable cascade of, apparently) circumstances is what the fake 'compassionate' go in for, because it permits them to do nothing, just bleat about Govt. They don't give a damn that that pretence ends up killing people. It's ALL about virtue signalling, and continuing with the behaviours which create homelessness.

There is no perfect system. Nature doesn't hold with such nonsense, and we are of nature.

I hope one day there will be Post-Scarcity Economy and Well-Being of All Humans. Maybe not soon.

You live in collective with your folks, yes? Shared resources, shared property, mutual support? You're already doing it right.

All of us in the First World can have that, but we choose not to. THAT'S the fly in the ointment, not govt or economies. As long as people refuse to 'share', we can expect nothing more than what we have. And what we have is actually pretty darned good, it must be said.

Perhaps in the Future, material resources would be vastly greater and Post-Scarcity Economy would emerge. For now, it is difficult.

In Judaism, we believe that Messianic Age will be the time of Universal Prosperity. Many Jews who worked for Socialism were working on building material base for such Society.

And the proof of what you say is right in front of us in L.A., Portland, and Seattle ... cities run by wealthy, so-called "compassionate" liberals.

Material resources already exist in outrageous quantity. The problem isn't lack, the problem is our refusal to share. Case in point: I was just reading a news story dating back to about June, pertaining to the working classes increasing struggles via nil wage growth and ever increasing housing costs. A certain larger rural town (small city, actually) was chosen for the study, and various minimum wage earners and retirees interviewed. Working people who've reached the limits of their ability to pay rent and utilities, etc. Retirees living alone in family sized houses owned outright, but struggling to pay taxes, utilities, insurances, maintainence, etc.

What's wrong with this picture? ALL of them are living in exclusively held properties - and funding such a luxury entirely alone - by choice. Any two or more (eg a working single mother, and a retired widow) could team up in the fully owned property, and reap enormous benefits. Shared maintainence. Housing security. In situ elder care. In situ baby-sitting, etc etc. The list of benefits is endless. Obviously, that's not going to happen magically amongst strangers (much better to do it with family/friends), but if we're serious about changing the world, it may have to come to that.

The problem is that people refuse to do it. It doesn't matter what's happening in govt or the economy, we (First Worlders) simply won't do it.

Which indicates one of two possibilities:

    eugenics

    or

    intellectual impairment

I prefer to think of it as a blend of hypocrisy, brainwashing, and willful ignorance of reality.

Shrimpers have a hard time of it here, except the Vietnamese. The older men in a family clan train for and get their captain's licenses and divide the younger men into crews. They all sign for a loan on a quality steel boat and rotate crews, operating the boat 24/7 for the entire season (If you're Vietnamese you're almost guaranteed a loan at a good rate, because of their track record). The boat is docked just long enough to unload shrimp, get ice, fuel, and water. The women bring provisions and the next crew takes it out. Plus, they do all their own maintenance. They make the lions share of the money shrimping because their capital investment never sits idle. This season was the exception -- almost no shrimp. But they knew it was coming and took belt-tightening measures and other jobs to survive for next year's season. Jobs are plentiful. They are far smarter than everybody else and it pays off.
