Words matter. The reality is only the people involved in the riot know if they planned to hang Pence or not. It's irrelevant if they were joking or not serious or whatever other excuse one wants to come up with. At that moment in time, they built a gallows and were unruly while breaching the Capitol. Downplaying it or reinventing history doesn't make them any less dangerous or responsible for what happened.

I'll refer you to the Colbert interview she did in the midst of riot season. It was either 'must' or 'should' but either way she strongly conveyed the point that the rioting (although she phrased it as protesting) must/should continue and sure enough a few days later a major one did start. Plus I'm sure you're aware she contributed to a fund dedicated to specifically bailing out people who were arrested in rioting, and encouraged others to do the same including other members of Congress which did.

 

Yea yea yea, a couple dozen of the hundreds of thousands of blacks that get arrested every year meet an unfortunate end almost always whilst furthering their criminal behavior and you try to sell it as some epidemic of racism and then just that justify millions of people committing political terrorism and furthering an actual racist notion that all White people are somehow bad for having been born White.

Sometimes, the arc of the universe is slow, but in the end it bends in the direction of fairness and equity and respect for law, meaning, it bends toward real justice.

These are things that so-called Conservatives once understood as they at one time stood shoulder to shoulder with Liberals and Moderates in defense of the homeland in times of crisis. But those glory days are long gone. Real Conservativism died the moment Trump took control of the sham known as the GOP and now, so called "Conservatives" spit on America. What they call "the deep state" (LOL) is actually called "rule of law". Why, it's as if that ****face Trump attracted every broken toy that belongs back on the Island of Misfit toys and they all marched to DC on January 6th, 2021 in a murderous rage and now, those so-called "Conservatives" are trying their best to whitewash history. But I will not let them.

Had Democratic Party loyalists done what the ****ed-up MAGA crowd did on January 6th, 2021, I would have left the Democratic Party immediately and would have never looked back.

Because this is not about party. It's about a functioning Republic based on the Democratic principles, including both direct and indirect Democracy. And the fascist, rage-filled, unamerican thugs who murdered at least one cop, injured hundreds, trespassed on federal property, ransacked the Capitol building, stole government materials (including secret documents), hunted for Representatives and Senators, especially Nancy Pelosi, also then-Vice-President Mike Pence, erected a noose in front of the Capitol Building to hang Mike Pence, chanted "Hang Mike Pence, Hang Mike Pence!" and interrupted the constitutionally mandated counting of the electors for President and Vice-President based on the 51 fair and free elections of November 3rd, 2020 - those ****ed-up people deserve the sentences that the law proscribes, sentences that are appropriate to the level of their crimes against the USA. Those people deserve our eternal scorn. They do not deserve our understanding, for there is nothing to have to understand here. Treachery is treachery, conspiracy is conspiracy, murder is murder, assault is assault, theft is theft, and so forth. We cannot afford to have these misfit toys around, trying to destroy Democracy everytime they get pissed-off believing a BIG LIE just because they have the emotional intelligence of a 4 year old, but adult hands on a gun. Those people are also not true Americans. They have no right to ever place their hands on their hearts and recite the pledge of allegiance (I bet that the majority of them cannot recite it correctly, anyway) ever again. They should have no right to ever vote again in a US election. And were judges to decide to strip them of their US citizenship, revoke their passports and expel them from the boundaries of the US and all of its territories, well then, who am I to question judges?

I will also point to specific historical precedent. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg committed treachery against the USA by releasing nuclear secrets to the Communist Russians, but were charged with conspiracy against the USA. People like to say that the Rosenbergs committed treason, but treason only exists during a state of open and declared war. If that's not the case, then similar acts are called treachery, which is usually classified under the rubrik of "Conspiracy against the United States of America". And indeed, that was the official charge in the indictment: conspiracy. You can feel free to look up the punishment that they received in order to know how harsh the law can be in the case of conspiracy against the United States of America. I am not saying that all those ****ed-up maga scum who tried to destroy our Republic on January 6th, 2021 deserve that specific punishment (in fact, in most cases, I would find this particular punishment to be too harsh and not in keeping with our Democratic principles), but I am saying that that punishment is on the books and there is historical precedent for its application in the case of Conspiracy against the USA. Feel free to read up on this case.

Now, members of PF can pretty much say anything they want, but I will point out the untruths and inconsistencies concerning the failed, ARMED insurrection of January 6th, 2021 every time I see them.

Because what happened on January 6th is crystal-clear for anyone with eyes to see. And those who lie about it now only hurt their "cause" even more.

The day will come when people will burn those ****ed-up, made-in-China, wholly unamerican, totally disgusting MAGA hats and try to act as if they were never a part of the treacherous, treasonous, unamerican crowd that tried its hardest to destroy Democracy and our beloved Republic but yet failed, and miserably at that. And I see it as my responsibility to remind those individuals of their miserable failure at every turn.

I do not need to "understand" a MAGAt, just as I do not need to "understand" a rattlesnake.

As I wrote at the beginning of this missive, the arc of the universe is sometimes slow, but in the course of time, we will get there.

 

Representatives aren't trained law enforcement either. Costumes or not, these people posed a threat and several people died as a result. They should be accountable for that.
