Looks like I know at least one thing more than you about guns: Not only do I know that one thing.... I have proven it : That there is such thing as "assault weapons" (https://www.congress.gov/bill/103rd-congress/house-bill/4296/text ). And for the purposes of this discussion... that's more than I need.

There is no such thing as an "Assault Weapon".

That term was created by the anti-gunners in the late 80's to label any gun they do not like.

    ASSAULT RIFLES VS. ASSAULT WEAPONS
The term assault rifle when used in its proper context, militarily or by its specific functionality, has a generally accepted definition with the firearm manufacturing community. In more casual usage, the term "assault weapon" is sometimes conflated or confused with the term assault rifle. The use of the term "assault weapon" is also highly controversial, as critics assert that the term is a media invention, or a term that is intended to cause confusion among the public by intentionally misleading the public to believe that assault weapons (as defined in legislation) are full automatic firearms when they are not.

    Of course

But as illegal alien criminals the end result must be punishment

When you have 100's of thousands of examples it is easy to cherry pick the worst of the worst and parade them through the media. No doubt there is tragedy and we can always do better. Who brought these children, these people to our borders? What did they expect would happen? Way i see it every administration, every congress since the Reagan amnesty back in the 80's is responsible for the mess.

Unfortunately nations exist. Nations have borders. Nations have laws. Nations do what they can to protect and preserve those borders. Perhaps one day we will move past all this nationalism and be as one. That is not the reality of the day. If anything we are moving in the opposite direction.

You have a soft spot for these people? What are you doing to ease their pain? How many have you cared for? What more can you do?

Spare me the over the top fascist/concentration camp baloney. When i hear that crap it makes me think the real gripe is not the tragedies but the dislike of Trump. Use any and all tragic moments to push him out. No different than those who spewed the same fear and disdain for Obama. Do you really care about these people or are they just a tool for another agenda?

Many people have done things or failed to do things. You can try to dilute responsibilities all you want. But let's be clear: only one person is responsible for separating children from their family to use it as a political tool: Donald Trump. Pure unadulterated fascism.

That's a complete smoke screen. Enforcing the laws is fine. But you can enforce them without negligently and purposefully adding to the harm these children experience. And without making a public spectacle of it because your followers enjoy the Roman Circle spectacle of seeing people that are "not like us" being hurt.

Sure. But, more than that, I have a hard spot for xenophobes, racists and their fascist dictators

For one thing, I'm putting to shame those who excuse all this. At least those who are capable of feeling shame. I know most are not.

    .
I will not spare you that because that's exactly where we are. All those who excuse this better hurry up and read the famous Martin Niemöller quote that starts with "First they came for...."

    https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/cont...niemoeller-first-they-came-for-the-socialists.

Very different from those who called Obama a "nazi" because he protected people!

Don't tell me you haven't noticed that these are actual self-declared "white supremacists" who are cheering at Trump's rallies when he brags about how he's going to "round up" aliens. That they walk into these rallies doing that "three-finger" white-supremacist salute. This is the base that Trump aims to please. And as the election approaches, he'll be more and more eager to please them.

I think you're just not paying enough attention.

Look. There were no concentration camps in Germany in the late 1920s and early 1930s. No gas chambers. No "roundinng up" of jews. Just mobs cheering every time anybody spoke against them. But there were a lot of people not paying enough attention.

If you don't look at the big picture and find root cause you will never be able to solve anything. It is a historical fact that none of the regimes over the past 30 years or so have failed to address immigration. Not a dilution, a fact. Reagan amnesty was a failure because it was never backed up with reasoned policy. Both major factions have failed in that regard.

No doubt there are failures in the handling of the illegal immigration issue. They need to be corrected. There are many successes. Talking about them doesn't serve your purpose. There is no excuse for mistreatment. There is also responsibility to those who show up at the border and cross, or try to cross illegally. Correct me if im wrong but far as i know Trump isn't down in central america rounding people up to bring to the border just so he can abuse them.

Trump has brought out the worst of some fringe groups. So did others before him. If anything it is a positive to bring them out the shadows and be held to account.

You might feel im not paying attention. That's because i don't hold any faction loyalties or march to your drumbeats. Trying to roll this into some grand fascist conspiracy is ironic given your sig statement.

That is not true. They have failed to solve immigration. But some administrations have taken positive steps to solve the problem and others have taken steps to make it worse.

But this thread is not about solving immigration This thread is about this Administration making it worse. If you want to discuss immigration as a whole, open your own thread, and I'll be more than happy to participate (if I have something to contribute). But this is not it. That is off-topic hiere.

I correct you. He is! To a certain extent...

Not physically in Central America. But few Presidents have done more to incentive more immigrants to come and overwhelm the border. One was to cancel the CAM program that allowed many refugee applicants to apply in their own countries, without having to come to the border. Trump decided to stop it because it combined the two elements that he hated most: it worked, and it was started by Obama. The other one is his constant talk about "stopping all immigration" or "shutting down the border"... and similar. When rumors of this get to people in the "Northern Triangle", many of those who were "on the fence" about making the trip here are motivated to just do it before it's too late.

There is no "fascist conspiracy". Just "fascist complacency" Equally dangerous, but requires no "brain power" at the top.
