We are treating them fairly. Russia just overstepped more than China did so far.

I'm afraid China sees Russia as a way to keep our eyes off them.

Definitely. And to test the waters for their own expansionism. Fortunately it isn't playing out so well for Russia.

Well put. But how does one treat fairly the leader of a country with the biggest army, maybe the 2nd strongest navy (I don't know about the air force), that steals our military secrets right and left, steals our intellectual property until the cows come home, and foments marxist internal takeover of the United States?

Funny, Putin sees Biden's America as evil no good little bastards now that Trump is gone. Like I posted, a catastrophic failure in world diplomacy will lead this invasion into WWIII:roll:. All Putin wanted was the current government of Ukraine...Not the people of Ukraine and not the country of Ukraine. BTW, you think Russia attacked that nuclear plant in Ukraine because Russia intended to occupy Ukraine??:roflol: Russia came to get the current government of Ukraine...Period.

China is off the subject of this thread, but, yes, China is a bigger threat to the US than Russia.

That's true but that's also beside the point of the potential for WWIII over this Ukraine invasion.

Also, you must understand that Putin made some agreements with China before the invasion. Now, I wouldn't trust most of the countries of the world concerning this invasion, er, every country seems to be emitting their own brand of propaganda about the invasion and no one wishes to perform any sort of diplomacy. Sounds just like the conditions which occurred just before the other 2 world wars. God save us from our moronic and biased leaders.

So we should cower in fear and abandon the idea of defending our national interest?

Both the United States and Russia are more aggressive militarily, which is why we clash more with Russia than with China. We are more at odds with one another when it comes to our military actions. Russia opposes our military actions in foreign countries (Syria, Iraq, Libya, ect), and we oppose Russia's military actions in foreign countries (Syria, Georgia, Ukraine, ect).

To give you an idea on what our military relationship with Russia is like, Russia spent a decade fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan (known then as the Mujahedeen), and during that time we funded and armed the Taliban to fight against the Russians. Fast forward to the 21st century, and it was us who were fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, and during that time the Russians funded and armed the Taliban to fight against us. Even when we are fighting the same enemy, the US and Russia are against each other

I don't see this as a case we can't avoid a WWIII. I see it as an opportunity to break Putin. It will be costly but I think the tide is against him. We just do everything in our power to aid Ukraine and weaken Putin. If Putin becomes the "madman" he is and gets so far out of control, we may have to level Moscow, but we cannot shy away from that possibility. Part of winning is showing our resolve no matter how costly. Remember, Communist China is watching to monitor our resolve.

It is my belief we cannot be Neville Chamberlin in this situation if we value our liberty as well as our lives.

I do not wish to be tasked with stabilizing the world. That is not the United States job. We are not the leader of the west.

Gee, the whole of the Middle East kills people because of their sexual preference but I doubt that stops you from using their gas. Your dollars prop up their regime. Mine do too. That is the consequence of globalism, you make your citizens and your country economically dependent on governments who may not share your worldview.

IMO, Russia is after the current government of Ukraine and not after the country of Ukraine or the people of Ukraine. IMO, this is not an occupation of Ukraine. IMO, it is an attempt to decapitate the current corrupt government of Ukraine.

You also don't stabilize the world by playing favorites around the world. The US and NATO allies, for example, are playing favorites with Ukraine and hating Russia, for example. Not just over the invasion but over all things concerning Ukraine V. Russia being biased for Ukraine and biased against Russia.

Side note: The current government of Ukraine and political elites in the US, for example, don't want to give Russia or Putin any respect. In fact, the current government of Ukraine and political elites in America hate Russia and Putin. It's no wonder there's never any meaningful negotiations between Russia and either Ukraine or the US.

One difference between the Trump Administration and Biden Administration, for example, is that the Trump Administration treated Russia fairly. One can't say the same about the Biden Administration. Putin craves respect and fairness...Once Putin 'tasted the respect candy', from Trump, Putin wants it all the time.

If you want to know about corrupt governments (not countries, the people are rarely corrupt), look into the current Ukranian government.

I understand your point but we can’t back down on our values because of economic reasons. It would hurt to get into a war of economies with China but it’s likely going to happen wether we like it or not. China, once they get the economic advantage over the U.S., they will surely pressure our economy to adhere to their values just as they done with the NBA. We should start to stop trade with China and punish any of our companies for going over there.
