I agree with you POTUS needs to set the example and yes use his influence to set the broad goals for our country then the worker bees fly out and implement.

However a POTUS isn't God just the most powerful man on Earth but still in the end just one man so as such he needs advice, influence and support from people he trusts just like we all do.

I tend to agree here, personally if I was Ivanka I would have ignored Germany / Merkel given the current environment but I'll give her credit for being willing to make the effort and try to accomplish something positive despite the protests of the vocal minority.

i'm sure, unfortunately it comes with the territory, its not like we're talking about mr. clean here, lets face it, he's a billionaire gruff NY businessman with 2 generations of money and somehow backed himself into the presidency, and he hasn't changed much since its become official. (my primary concern about him from the get go)

I'm hopeful that it was just a vocal minority that unfortunately seems to be getting a voice more on the surface than ever before. Similar to the stupid flying shoe with Bush, back in the day it gets dismissed and the one crazy shoe guy is ignored, fast forward and all of a sudden its a 2 day discussion.

Personal Opinon but I think it started around Ford/Carter era when it became "okay" to directly insult the POTUS, and gradually migrated from Reagan (i do not recall), to Bush (read my lips), Clinton (I did not have sexual relations...), BushII (aw shucks)....

By the time we got to Obama who was pretty much the most polished president we've had in 30 years and nobody gives a chit, social media takes over and by then an entire generation had totally forgoten that we're supposed to treat the position with respect. And that includes Ivanka, who I have zero issues with.

Enter 2016, we elect Mr Word Salad and its a firestorm, now we actually have a reason to mock the position but to me it still seems ugly to me, we crossed the line so long ago that now its not only acceptable but I find myself criticized for not for not criticizing the POTUS, its a lose lose.

So, should Ivanka have to take chit and some blowback over daddy's indiscretions? absolutely yes, will anything positive come out of it? absolutely no

What I would hope is that the media learns to ignore such incidences, screw the boo's and don't give them airtime, unless your goal is division.

I think Ivanka should consider the events she attend and who she truly represents. It's ridiculous for her to promote her father's policies at a women's event... she was asking for it, his treatment of women is appealing (appalling), what was she thinking?
