the rest of the article goes on about how the Israeli authorities and religious leaders condemn this action and respect all faiths. In as much as any political talk doesn't mean anything, the article reports on all the right noises being made. This article casts Israel in a beneficial light imo.
Maybe the reason the Christians have nothing to say about the insults is that they don't care. We Americans hold freedom of speech as one of our most cherished values even when it is something we hate. We don't normally threaten to kill people when people say things that we disagree with. I would agree that this "Jesus is a monkey" stuff is the work of a few Israeli extremists and that the general authorities condemn these actions. What I don't agree with is that those authorities take these actions seriously and have made an effort to identify, arrest and punish the people carrying out these actions. Talk is cheap - show me some evidence of actual action by the Israeli authorities and I'll be more inclined to believe that interpretation of this news story.

Churches are vandalized all the time here in the US, and are in some cases, out right burned to the ground. Such actions are always condemned.
