Cosby was very careful about the image that his characters portrayed. There were not many shows with black actors who weren't in stereotypical roles in the 80's and The Cosby Show, about an upper middle class black family, was a huge, intentional breakthrough in the television industry.

The sequel A Different World was centered around life on a black college campus. I had an opportunity to audition for A Different World but I didn't go. Cosby did have some white actors on his shows.

As for Spike Lee, I guess you never watched Do The Right Thing or Black Klansman.

 

A shoot em up in the hood featuring pimps, drug dealers abd junkie prostitutes would naturally not include many whites

And there's nothing wrong with that if he feels blacks are unrepresented in lead roles. Which most reasonable .People would agree .

But are they? Considering the demographics are black people really under represented? Or does it just sound nice? There is no such thing as perfect representation since that would be ridiculous and require manipulation, bias and people being given work not based on qualifications or merit. MORE AA and corruption.

The NBA and NFL certainly have extremely uneven representation, yet there are no movements to fix that? Why? Is it because logically we expect the best people to get hired? Yet for some reason that concept doesn’t need to apply in every other industry. If there aren’t enough black directors it’s becsuse the system is racist. Yet there aren’t nearly enough white players in certain sports and it’s because white players cant compete, which is logical.

The double standard has to stop.
