to make sure the President does not have a conflict of interest, and is putting his on financial interests above the American people

this is why Presidents put all their money in a blind trust and divest their businesses

I mean come on, this President is definitely profiting off the tax payers, this is what the founders wanted to prevent

That is not a LEGISLATIVE purpose. You have his financial disclosure forms for that purpose and the voters can judge accordingly. You have yet to list what is in his tax return that is not in his financial disclosure already that would tell you this......waiting.....

And what President divested themselves of all their family business?

their businesses... they put their investments in a blind trust to prevent conflicts of interest

if they don't, they should expect to be investigated if they do questionable things like Trump has been doing

sure it is, that is part of the job of congress, to make sure the emolument's clause is not violated

any that had businesses that did not want to appear to have a conflict of interest and be investigated, they don't have too, but should expect to be investigated if they look like they are violating the emolument's clause if they do not

there is no abuse of power, it's congresses job to investigate the President when their is suspected wrong doing

should the President be above the law, what's next ever rich person is above the law, where will it end

because the President is above the law, the job falls on congress to investigsate

letting the President get away with violating the law is a slippery slope

LEGISLATIVE purposes not JUDICIAL and on what line of his tax return would that be that is not already on his financial disclosure form?

Name them and the emoluments thingy is going nowhere in the courts anyway. When a court finds he violated a law then Congress can choose to impeach or not.

So if someone wants to use the mighty IRS against you for your political beliefs, its okay as long as they suspect wrong doing?

And the final stone has been tossed

    Unconstitutional Tax Tricks
The courts make quick work of liberal state legal stunts.

"A federal judge on Tuesday blocked a California law compelling presidential candidates to disclose their income tax returns to appear on the state’s primary ballot. This followed New York state’s defeat Monday in its lawsuit claiming the 2017 tax reform is unconstitutional. Notice a trend here?

California this year enacted a law blocking presidential candidates from their party’s primary ballot if they don’t submit to the state five years of income tax returns. Democrats claimed they were merely enshrining a “customary” practice. But former California Gov. Jerry Brown didn’t release his tax returns when he ran for President in 1992. Nor did Ross Perot that year or Ralph Nader in 2000.

As federal Judge Morrison England explains in his ruling, the California law violates fundamental constitutional principles. The Supreme Court ruled in U.S. Term Limits v. Thornton (1995) that the Framers intended to “fix as exclusive the qualifications in the Constitution,” and “thereby divest[ing] States of any power to add qualifications.” If California can demand tax returns, the judge wrote, why not “confidential medical records, psychiatric and therapist records, academic records, family law records, or other privileged information”?

The judge said the law also likely violates the First Amendment’s association rights by allowing “the controlling party in any state’s legislature” to interfere “with the ability of both individuals and political parties to select the individual presidential candidate of their choice.” We’ve encouraged Mr. Trump to disclose his tax returns, but voters have to weigh that secrecy against other matters when they vote for President.
