No it doesn't. When you buy a gun they check to see if you've got any severe mental conditions.

Still 20,000 to 25,000 lives lost to gun suicide is a very large minority.

I guess so. For many people a gun is an expensive toy used for hunting.

Motorcycles cause 29 times fatalities as cars per 100,000,000 passenger-miles.

As opposed to the rest of the eight hundred thousand lives lost to non-firearm-related suicides?

It may be a large minority, but society is better off without such beings, and the fact they where able to complete the job instead of becoming a burden on society is a good thing.

Very incorrect, guns are neither toys, nor are they exclusively used for hunting, in the U.S. 200,000+ law abiding citizens use firearms each and every year to protect themselves from becoming a victim of a crime.

And that is an excellent reason to never infringe on the rights of the law abiding, which is why those who wish such infringements on the law abiding are actually enablers of crime and should be severely punished for doing so.

So people who want to commit suicide, if they don't have access to guns, tell me, why wouldn't they just jump in front of trains?

Its not a toy its a hunting tool. And as for being expensive, that's all relative.

And while I certainly wouldn't wish anybody to die from motorcycle accidents, if they want to take that risk that's their choice.

Except that the info is only as good as what's available. Meaning that there are plenty of people walking around with un-diagnosed mental health conditions who are able to obtain firearms. Now, I am NOT advocating for more guns laws. Just merely pointing out how ineffective the mental health check can be.

Eugenics and the idea that some people have no value is really horrifying. I also have Autism and Depression. I can not really be productive.

In 95% of cases they would choose methods which will not be successful.

I believe The State has an obligation to prevent people from making very bad choices.

And yet it is the system that exists within the boundaries of due process of law. If an individual is without a diagnosis, there is legally nothing that can be done. Just as one cannot be convicted of a murder that they did not commit, simply because they might do it later on.

And yet it is the way the real world works. There are indeed individuals present in the world who have absolutely no value, and no legitimate reason for existing.

Is there a legitimate reason for continually repeating the same excuse, time and time again, as if it has not been heard previously?

Is such the fault of anyone that is present in this discussion?

If not, then cease bringing up such irrelevant details.

And even if such people don't have guns they can still be an extreme menace to society. Do you remember the Happyland Blaze in NY back in 1990? There was no guns involved, just gasoline that you can get at any gas station. The problem isn't guns the problem is people with un-diagnosed mental health conditions.

Two of the most commonly used methods in Japan is jumping in front of trains and jumping from heights, both have been shown to be very effective and successful.

If said bad choices only affect me then I have every right to make very bad choices.

Then you have a lower societal value than someone who can work.

Are you claiming getting hit by a locomotive is survivable, that is simply a flat out lie?

Have you ever seen what a locomotive does to a human body?

    I'll give you some clues.

See the streak to the right of the detectives arm, that's dried blood, I won't post the photo of the guys body as it was in 4 pieces scattered up the track for just over a quarter mile and looked like it had been hit by a missile.

He basically got hit, his body was torn apart and was tossed up the track and then run over slicing him into smaller pieces, getting run over by a flanged steel wheel on steel rail-head, by a 245,000 pound GP-40 locomotive is not survivable.

In July of 1994 I heard a call go over FEC dispatch, emergency, emergency, emergency this is train xxx we just hit a kid on a bike at MP 310 need EMS and police here now.

I put it to the floor and got to the scene within minutes.

While it was first assumed he was playing chicken with the train as he had been reported cutting in and out of traffic almost getting run over, however it was later discovered he was 14 year old boy was on his way home from school, he was distraught and upset because his grades, once again where D's and E's, his parents would be very upset and he would be punished, as he approached the grade crossing he noticed a Northbound rock train traveling toward him, he went under the gates stood between the rails, turned his back to the train and it hit him.

The impact was so severe it tossed his body and his bike 1800 feet to the North, about where the middle of the almost mile long train finally came to a stop, meaning the locomotives where almost 3000 feet North of where his body landed, I never found the frame of the bike, only the rear wheel.

His body remained in one piece, but looked like it had been ground up and was almost totally naked.

If you think a collision between a train and a human is survivable you are very badly mistaken, such collisions do not produce injuries similar to a person being hit by a vehicle, instead the injuries are more like what one would see in combat.

If a person is in a vehicle they might have a chance of surviving, if the train is going slow enough, this guy got boxed in and was t-boned by a train doing only 30 MPH, he was hurting but alive, his car was totaled.

This guy, while not too bright also got himself boxed in, but realizing he was in trouble abandoned his car and let it get hit.

I believe the NMPD officer is handing him the cities "idiot of the month award" while standing in front of the Operation Lifesaver stenciling on the rock car in the background.

Again never forget, trains win every time and will kill a person 99.999% of the time in a collision, they are much more deadly than a gun when it comes to getting oneself killed.

Nope, it is none of the states business to get involved in a persons choice to live or die, the family or his friends may get involved, but the state has no obligation to get involved and actually should be forbidden from getting involved.
