If you're saying that Trump is also a symptom of America's ills, I very much agree. I see him as symptomatic of our broken two-party system that has left people feeling increasingly disenfranchised, hopeless and angry at the whole thing. Trump was an expression of this. He has embodied that from the beginning. But we also need to acknowledge that he is not the answer. Not as a president, not long-term. I look at his election as a point having been made and a huge slap to our collective faces, especially to partisans' faces. This is what left-right partisanship gets us. It's been a problem since at least as far back as Bush Jr. and the (D) jokers who ran against him.
Has Trump succeeded? Not really. Has he gotten in his own way? Yeah. Have others also gotten in his way? Yeah as well. I think the big thing is for us to lose this moral superiority crap. If he broke laws, he broke laws and will hopefully be punished for those. But right now, he's the POTUS and all this childish stomping has done, is to destabilize the US government. Some people have this weird feeling that if they out-Trump Trump, they'll win. Has anyone forgotten Marco Rubio tried that? And it actually damaged his brand. Trump's brand works for Trump. And I think it works for him because he's able to make the other person look bad, rather than making himself look good. The answer to that, is to make yourself look even better. But you can't do that in #resistance. Even if Democrats do get a blue wave, it will be a very meek one, where the victories won't be much in terms of a voting outcome. They've typically been very close. Which some news pundits chalk up as a big victory. That's as much of a delusion as Trump being evil incarnate(possible crimes not withstanding.) It used to be, if the elections are close then NEITHER party has a strong position. That's reality on planet earth, happily waiting for others to join lol. So how would Democrats have accomplished a massive tidal wave? Well, there's a unique advantage to being a minority party: When minority legislation is actually passed, Democrats can now say "We'd do a lot more if we were in the majority." But crybabies simply aren't seeing that opportunity. I mean, in his State of the Union Address, Trump gives Democrats a lifeboat in the form of his stated support for family leave. This is a Far Left position, that should have rallied the Democratic Party. And since the POTUS voiced support for it, the Republican Party(at the time, remember there wasn't a Cohen thing yet) can't possibly voice against the POTUS completely, it'd fracture the party. But no, that pitiful thing called Congress wants the POTUS to hold their hand, so they can be washed of all possible responsibility. That's if they have the will to pass anything at all. Just like Trump said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose voters, the reverse is also true: He could re-sign the Paris Accords, cut gas emissions, cure cancer and start the development of space colonies and he'd still be the most loathed. Fair or not? Maybe, maybe not. But we do know one thing: Our approach as a country ISN'T WORKING. It's falling apart at the seams, and it's time we stop blaming Trump, solely Trump for that.
Trump in the White House is better than any TV series. Can you imagine if Tony Soprano's consigliere flipped with the FBI, like Trump's Cohen has done? Trump is going down, be patient.
Wishful thinking was the source of the Mueller investigation, and has been the source of every investigation stemming from it. If you don't believe that, can you please identify the specific crime that warranted the Mueller investigation.
Opinion piece by a Leftist tool job. Can I have that time back in my life? People are more stupid for reading the link in the OP.
Congress can stop this at any time by simply cutting off funds to Mueller. The case in NY is a plea bargain, so there is no evidence trail. If Mueller is gone, this goes nowhere. From what I see, the Republican Party will pick up seats in the Senate. Not going to be 66 votes to remove him from office. Just waiting for Ruth Bader Ginsberg to keel over so Trump can nominate Judge Barrett to the SCOTUS.
Actually, I think it comes out of a separate revolving Treasury Department account for "permanent, indefinite appropriations" that is set up for things like special investigations. The only way Congress can halt the Mueller investigation is to pass a law or insert a rider in a spending bill to try to prevent any money from being spent on the special counsel probe. The odds of that happening are slim to none. Mueller has all the money and time he wants to do whatever he wants..... and that is exactly what he is doing. It's pretty evident that GOPers have little to no fight or stomach for abuse like the DNC does. The Obama Administration was by far the most corrupt Administration we have ever had in America and only a few were trying to go after them and hold them accountable. Sessions is not one of them. In fact, he is the weakest when it comes to justice. He can't even win fights against States like CA and their legal teams and leaders. Rosenstein has a lot of fight and is a pitbull but he wants Trump out of office and out of hair so that his DOJ can do whatever they want with impunity. His loyalty is not to the American people or to justice but to the DOJ itself and to protect and hide the crimes they have committed over the course of the last 8-16 years. If you switched everything and Trump or another Republican had done what the Obama Administration had done, the amount of indictments would be so long it would literally destroy the Republicans as a party and a viable political party. Quite frankly, it is a double standard of epic proportions. It just proves that the DNC, Democrats and political elite they report to are the most corrupt people we have in the government and if things don't change, I am sure it will end up in a dictatorship or into a full blown civil war that will take the country decades to recover from. If we recover from it at all.
So let the legal process play out and if Trump is found guilty of something or is caught lying under oath I will be one of the first ones to yell "lock him up!?
Can you believe they're still chanting "Lock her up" at Trump's fascist rallies? What are we to make of such people? They love their mobster-in-chief, that's for sure...
Clinton was impeached for lying under oath and obstruction of justice. Clinton remained President, did you forget that part of history?
So reducing the tax burden on companies and workers is not a change? Since the dems call it crumbs, he should reduce it more.
You want to overturn the results of the election. In the vision of progs, we have "Show-Elections". No thanks, Trump stands with us, we insist on REAL elections. If the Clowns wan to win, they can learn to appeal to us. This prog attack on our electoral system is probably the worst in the history of The Republic. I think the Republic survives and you guys get your heads slammed into the wall.
For Hillary Clinton losing the presidency was probably worse than going to jail and I'm fine with that. IMO she got what she deserved.
It’s more like PTSD from the election. Traumatic stress from witnessing their loss. They just can’t accept it. Most amusing considering how they predicted Trump wouldnt accept the results.
Comedy and drama is good. The crying will come when Trump's family is caught in the justice net. Donald Trump is too busy patching his wounds to be an effective POTUS. There has never been a POTUS as dirty as Donald Trump.
Sheep don't have great intelligence. In fact Trump has said he likes unintelligent people. The unintelligent love him back by beating his mantra.
