    Easy?

    I have no idea.

I could not even name a WW2 movie starlet other then Greta Garbo...and I am not even 100% sure of her.

Foss, Zemke, Gabreski, Boyington, Thatch, Bong, McGuire (sp?)...?

Okay- this is in regards to the French Fleet- the forces of what nations sank the:

Strasbourg- The French scuttled it to prevent the Germans from taking it.

Bretagne - The Brits sank it to prevent the Germans from taking it.

    I found the dichotomy interesting.

None of the above. It's Brigadier General Robin Olds. After WWII Olds married Hollywood actress Ella Raines.

He was a double ace during WWII and he became a triple ace in Vietnam. After his tour in Vietnam he was appointed commandant of the USAF Academy. He is buried in the academy cemetery.

Anyone please feel free to take my turn.

Very good. It was ironic that he received a transfusion from an American soldier.

    Please ask a question.

I don't know, but I'll guess. Iceland or Alaska.

Correct! Nice job. Thule was built in 1943 and remains a USAF base today.

In which WWII pacific battle were the marines fighting tides and coral reefs during the first landing wave just as much as they fought the Japanese?

Tarawa was different. Because of a unique configuration of the reef and rare tides the Higgins boats couldn't bring the marines ashore. They had to wade through chest deep water with their rifles above their heads while the Japanese shot them down.

The amphibious tractors were able to get over the reef and bring their marines ashore. However, most marines were in Higgins boats.

Tarawa was the first of the storm landings. It was a learning experience for the navy and marines.

    Any one...ask a question please.

The Soviet Untio got, therough Lend-Lease, a huge number of trucks...in fact, they got the entire production run of one company's assembly plant.

Which company's plant had its entire run go to the USSR? Bonus question: where was the plant?

Stalin admired Henry Ford so I will guess Ford is the company.

    No, not Ford.

Hint: these were the big 2.5 ton 6x6 trucks, not the smaller 3/4-ton trucks. (The 3/4 tons were, by and large, Dodge M37's.)

It's the Studebaker truck built in Southbend, Indiana.

I had forgotten about Studebaker's existence. Thanks. Please ask a question.
