I'm gonna go with heights. The whole retreat on top of a mountain that you had to get to on an elevator.

Was it Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia due to the German tendency to create long compound words?

Here's a hint. Benito Mussolini had the same phobia.

That's not unusual. There are plenty of people in Africa and India who are scared of cats.

I found it interesting that he shared his phobia with Mussolini, Napoleon Bonaparte, Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great.

At any rate please ask the next question Panzer.

Um......... has this been asked? We'll find out I guess.

The highest ranking (rank at death......... posthumous promotions don't count!) American to be killed in WW2 was killed by who?

Actually, his name was Lesley McNair.

He was the idiot that a) made sure U.S. anti-tank guns were towed instead of self-propelled.

And especially (IMO) b) held back the deployment of the M26 Pershing (a tank that could take on the best German tanks on relatively equal footing) in favor of the Sherman.

These two moronic ideas undoubtedly cost many American lives.

Yeah, killed by friendly bombing. They broke a rule with the bombing that day, they bombed perpendicular to the lines meaning that bombs that were dropped short hit friendly territory instead of just dropping short in enemy territory.

You got McNair, the first name is irrelavent.

    But I'll ask one anyway...

Name an Allied fighter plane that had nine guns.

    Interesting.

But I don't think it had 9 - anyway, I was thinking of another fighter.

Hint: it is not from a major power

The Matilda I had a .303 (8mm) machine gun, a few later ones had a .50 caliber (12.7mm) MG. The Matilda II had a 2pdr (40mm) gun. However, despite the simplar names, they were completely different tanks.

Does a Lt. General outrank a Vice Admiral? If so...right. If not: Admiral Norman Scott was killed aboard USS San Francisco by gunfire from the Japanese battlecruiser Hiei.

The Beau actually had TEN guns: six .303 MG's in the wings, and four 20mm cannon in the nose.

    Didn't a few French planes have eight 7.5mm MG's and a 20mm cannon?

    Yep...that appears to be 10.

But I asked specifically for 9.

    ;)

Anyway, why don't you ask the next question?

What ship was the last veteran of Pearl Harbor (either tied up at Pearl or part of the Japanese task force) sunk in combat?

Darn that took me a while to find some answers

    Type Number
    Mk. I 65
    Mk. II 146
    Mk. III 675
    Mk. III C.S. 118
    Mk. IV 1613
    Mk. IV C.S. 283

Infantry Tank Mark II Matilda II[5]
First production model[33] armed with a Vickers machine gun.[5]
Infantry Tank Mark II.A. Matilda II Mk II[5][33]
Vickers machine gun replaced by Besa machine gun. The "A" denoted a change in armament.[5]

Looks like a total of 146 Mark 2 were produced- and these were the Mathilda II's that were part of the first operational unit.

No doubt though that they were a minor part of the Mathilda 2 story.
