Either satire, or if I were to emulate the typical conservative response to this kind of simple-mided post, I might suggest a conservative troll trying to make fun of leftists by putting up idiotic posts.

Sadly, I think it's probably just some misguided 12-year-old or something who was nurtured for too long by the parental units.

I mean, seriously, is Liberal Activists' point really "I'm offended so it's hate speech"?? Really, LA?? Grow a thicker skin. This is America. You have the right to be offended but not the right to make others bend to your delicate sensibilities. Grow up.

As idiotic as the signs are, the person has every right to have them up on his own private property.

But I have a question; how do you know the people who want to take it down are liberals?

None of it is hate speech unless there is a racist undertone to it or something along those lines. Putting Obama in a diaper is not hate speech. Depicting him as being lynched would be.

Please stop trying to lump all liberals together into a neat little package. We don't all think alike just like all conservatives don't think alike.

Excellent points, supaskip. You just got repped. We need more moderation in these forums. The over-the-top finger-pointing and name calling does nothing to advance a coherent argument.

A black lady was escorted out after a man snatched a sign away that she wasn't even holding up (it was on a chair), while three white people actually holding up signs were allowed to stay. That's a ridiculous double standard. Either signs are prohibited and none should be allowed or they are not prohibited and all should be allowed. Which was it?

That being said, I don't particularly blame the people who were cheering the removal of the woman as they obviously did not witness the entire thing.

I don't remember anyone in the video saying it was racist. Just "disrepectful" which of course that homeowner had every right to be.

Look, there are many who can take the hatred (but not without affect upon society overall).

Please, don't tell others to (in effect) 'grow-up', when you should be grown-up enough yourself... to have a better sense of right/wrong (more specifically, realizing and accepting that civility is typically the proper thing to exude).

We should not (socially speaking) give a 'pass' to every bigoted idiot that wants to spew hatred or post an inappropriate or provoking message. I mean, one need look no further than these various internet fora, to realize and understand that there are good reasons for social rules of engagement. I think that MOST of us participating here, know at least 1 or 2 things that would get you suspended or banned in short order. And our society is no different; SOME people go to far... it is as simple as that.

So, my problem with what you say above, is that unless we DISCOURAGE that ignorant, juvenile or overly-visceral approach to communicating a message... then we step closer and closer to a society where anything goes. And once something is deemed to be out of control, HERE COME THE LEGAL RESTRICTIONS... that the very people who promoted such visceral behavior, will whine about more than anyone else.

In essence, the problem is that some people will not consider the effects of what they communicate; they don't care unless they are forced to. And what would likely be most merciful for such people would be CUSTOM laws citing them for their foolish 'displays'; but I'm more worried that many people are just going to get themselves HURT... by someone willing to escalate the hateful rhetoric to another level, ultimately leading to physical action.

In most cases, LAWS will come into being and 'limit' what people can say/do; it doesn't take a genius to see that coming.

But be real... it isn't far-fetched for most Americans to think (reasonably) that "racism" might surely be behind such a display of hatefulness. At the very least, it is irrational animus being expressed... which by another name is "bigotry".

I appreciate your comments, but I did "discourage" the idiotic signs in my other posts. But Liberal Activist was way over the top in calling, in effect, for censorship of free speech.

Of course, I think the guy was motivated, at least in part, by racism. But he restrained himself enough to not put it in his signs and graphics, something I can't say the same about some posters here, unfortunately.

Because they were Ubama supporters and mostly black....gezzz a kindergartner could figure that out. Why would they want them taken down otherwise??? Liberals always want to deny free speech to others.

While you view that as over-the-top, many realize that advocating for certain restrictions... may not be such a 'bad' thing overall. Some of the things people say/do, border upon inciting unrest/violence. They WOULD cry "FIRE!!" in a crowded room, if they could get away with it legally. Some people's political and public statements, come very close to the same.

I agree that the best thing would be absolute "Free Speech". All I'm saying strongly here, is that if people DO NOT police themselves, the LAWS will fill that vacuum for them (in due time).

In a nation where the wounds caused by racism are still fresh... he (IMO) is an idiot! A hint is enough.

If there is a sign next door saying '[Insert name] is a dirty N*****' then you bet I have the right to decide that the sign is offense and to remove it myself.
Or if a sign says 'Gays should die' then I will also remove that sign.

    They should.

I don't have an issue with Coon cheese or some stand being named something that people found offensive. I remember that story well. There is a lot of political correctness out there but there is difference between that and being grossly offensive.

Signs are disrespectful, but not Racist in anyway. Personally I didn't find them too offensive considering what has been put out in the past

If that were legally true the "God hates (*)(*)(*)(*)" freaks wouldn't have won their court case.

You don't have a legal leg to stand on.

And the signs in the OP are not even close to racism unless any criticism of Obama is considered racist to you.

Well thank you very much! That may be my first rep. I think usually I rub people the wrong way, especially since I play devils advocate quite a lot.

So, these and anything like them should be not be allowed. (noting the above sign was not even on private property) Were there any signs used during the violence riddled civil rights movement?

This is not yelling fire arguement. I think you are incredibly wrong with your statement.
