And this explains why New York is 30th in cases per million, but 2nd in deaths per million?

No, Elvis was more of a fried chicken man.
That's what his song Love me Tendies was about.

It's bugging me now too, I thought at first she was talking about that ''space lasers starting wildfires'' woman but that would be MTG.
Melania was a good guess but Slovenians don't generally have middle names.

I'm gonna say that she meant Marjorie Taylor Greene, but only typed the "M", before Mr. Trump popped into her head, resulting in the "JT." Which would be an forgivable error, considering the connection between the two people.

Can the overwhelming of healthcare services be measured so that States can be ranked in a way in which you think is fair?

After a year of observing and analysing these numbers on a daily basis, I am 100% in agreement with you on that point (in bold).

Yes, it could explain some of the very low numbers in some under developed nations. Lack of population mobility would also be a factor.

It's clever sounding because it's too damn true.

I understand, and I hope you do too, that government invocation of the term 'pandemic', as opposed to 'epidemic', is purely bureaucratic in nature. It is the call of some faceless bureaucrat somewhere as to which term will be invoked and released to the media.

So we're into that "a rose by any other name" situation.

The invocation of a certain term is really just a propaganda tool.

Plandemic is entirely appropriate, and oh so accurate.

We had some very good conversations about this over at my mega bigly Covid-19 thread.

I suspect that there are a number of reasons for them, some innocent, others perhaps nefarious.

No, it is not. That's just plain old malarkey.

No person, no group, no secret "cabal" set out to unleash a pandemic upon our world.

Yes, it was just reported on the BBC that Tanzania stopped testing and recording cases of C19 once the figure reached 500.

    This
Red State Blue State argument is silly. If the virus came through Blue to Red then of course the Blue States would have higher incidence of Covid than Red States. Blue States would then slow as Red States were exposed and numbers rose. There is nothing remarkable about the differences being described here and it doesn't prove or disprove the effectiveness of the efforts to fight the virus and the various methods used. I suspect that the virus is apolitical even though that may be sacrilegious.

I don't know that I am following your logic. You are saying that pandemic sounds orders of magnitude worse than epidemic, thereby giving those in charge of combatting it expanded power? I don't know how much worse people in any given country would regard a pandemic than a national epidemic, but I am doubtful the word-choice would make that great a difference; we have seen, in fact, in the U.S., as I 'm sure has been the case elsewhere, that using a term which evokes the virus's international element has caused, or been used by, many to actually doubt its authenticity. And, of course, if one accepts that this epidemic is simultaneously hitting multiple countries, around the world, that person would be seeing something nefarious in calling something, what it clearly is.

While I can follow the argument that dealing with a worldwide problem like this, will give impetus to efforts at cooperation among nations, in expectation of future events, much as two World Wars led to the United Nations structure, it is hard to understand the, "sinister," element in international efforts to try to track & contain future pathogenetic outbreaks. Perhaps you wouldn't mind providing me, & others, a more lucid comprehension of what you are suggesting, with your allusions to bureaucratic propaganda?

I mean, pandemic and epidemic both have clearly defined parameters.
He might as well be asking why are you calling that 4 ounce burger a quarter pounder.
He's just out of his depth.

I would presume that Eleuthera, is a she. Though I could be wrong, of course, as I was the first time I read the name of the Romanian historian Mircea Eliade (who I, until just now, also assumed was French). His writing is dry as a bone, btw.
