Clearly all the statements about the young man were published, false, he'll have to prove an injury...which shouldn't be hard given the horrible things leftist were saying about it, and the statements weren't priviledged...it wasn't testimony in Court

 

No one should be physically attacked for wearing a hat. I don't know if we've reached the point where most of us think that's okay. I certainly hope not.

I think the media did everything they could, from Fox News to MSNBC, to fan the flames in Ferguson, Missouri. After all the coverage, the entire Ferguson flap was confined to a few blocks on the main street. The folks in Ferguson had a government housing project plopped down in the middle of their town and no one with a brain was surprised those poor people came out of their sweat box flats in the middle of summer. People milling around with nothing to do get into trouble.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation interviewed a black man who lived one block off the main street and who said his biggest problem was getting around the police roadblock to get to his TWO jobs. He was shown in front of his house on a street where all the houses look like they had gardeners. All the black people in town weren't upset or rioting. The media were making them look bad and stirring up race trouble where the fact is we had a poor-people-shoved-into-sweat-boxes problem. So, the truth was told by the Canadians who had no reason to whoop up a conflict to keep people tuned in.

Think about it--we had trolling Antifa, Al Sharpton, demonstrators from St. Louis, a regular zoo of outsiders looking for tv camera time, and still the conflict was limited to a few blocks. Instead of the telling the truth about Ferguson, the media pitted Americans against each other on tv for $$$. All of the media--Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.--cashed in.

So, you figure as a teacher, I shouldn't protect my students by warning them that wearing a MAGA hat in an area with demonstrations might get them attacked? I shouldn't tell them how to nonviolently defend themselves against attack or being portrayed as bigots?

Not "now" because I have always maintained they were provoked.

I've negotiated labor contracts and some fairly complex political deals, so I've done a few laps around the barn myself.

Well, you can call them children if you wish, but I taught them for years and many of them are quite capable of functioning as young adults if that's what we expect from them. Myself, I went to university and moved away from the family home when I was 16. I paid my own way through school, graduating when I was 20.

I don't "fantasize," either, so cut the BS. I taught high school for decades and treating them as though they're children is selling most of them short.

If you're saying the students were restrained, I would have to agree although they didn't appear to have a lot of "street" in them. My experience tells me a lot of them were somewhat shocked by what they found themselves observing.

 

My experience with the media is they could care less about the kids being white. the kids' hats, or the truth of the situation. It's infotainment.

 

I hope they do what they think is right for themselves. They have no obligation to carry our water.

The Indian chief tried to calm the situation by intervening in the fracas with the tribal drum. Nick Sandmann and his friends were taunting the group called Black Hebrew Israelites that is designated a hate group.

Black Israelite's aren't Jews. They are American blacks who believe they were descendants of ancient jews.
However most are Christian, and while there a few who converted to Judaism, it is not recognized by the Jewish faith. They are a designated black supremacist group.

There is no video evidence of the children taunting anyone here.
