That kid was with a group of students from Covington Catholic High School protesting abortion. At the same time, a group of Blacks protesting something else starting hurling racial epithets and cursing the group of students from Covington Catholic. The racial slurs used by the Blacks can be clearly heard on the video.

And, at the same time, Nathan Phillips was with a group of "Native Americans" (snicker) holding a demonstration.

Phillips voluntarily of his own free will left his group and walked to the group of students from Covington Catholic, then invaded the personal space of that kid and began beating his drum and chanting. Phillips totally misinterpreted everything and took his voluntary action on belief that he could diffuse the situation between the Blacks and the students from Covington Catholic.

It would certainly be amusing to see how you would react if you were minding your own business and someone walked up to you, and not just walked up to you, but invaded your personal space and started beating a drum and chanting.

 

I was wrong.
