McCarthy threatens the Attorney General on the assumption that he will be speaker come the November midterms.

And the reason? Because he thinks the DOJ is acting corruptly. that, with no reason, totally in a vacuum, that the DOJ has it out for Trump. Nevermind the numerous reports six months ago, that Trump stole highly sensitive and classified documents from the Archives and did not return them, a blatant federal crime.

One would think that the minority leader would have at least queried to find out if the DOJ had just cause, not to mention no federal judge is going to sign off on a warrant of the former president of the United States without a solid probable cause, very solid given that it is the former president, and that there are named violations alleged, specifying the area with the crime was committed and what evidence is being searched and what makes the FBI believe that that evidence is at the residence. No, no doubt McCarthy thinks they are a bunch of jokers at the FBI and that they and the AG had a hair up their butt to 'get Trump' and for no good reason they bamboozled a federal judge to go along with it, all done willy nilly.

This is the caliber of human being we have as minority leader. Not a man of statesmanship, gravitas, but a petty man engaging in tit for tat tweets threatening one of the most honorable Attorneys General in a long time, clearly doing it without much forethought.

And the bellyaching and cries of 'banana republic' by the right has begun.

    https://thehill.com/policy/national...eatens-to-probe-garland-after-trump-fbi-raid/

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) promised on Monday that if Republicans take back the chamber after November’s midterm elections, they will investigate the Department of Justice, telling Attorney General Merrick Garland to “clear your calendar.”

“I’ve seen enough. The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization,” McCarthy said. “When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.”

“Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar,” McCarthy said.

    Physician, heal thyself.

Innocent people don't have to worry about such threats. For example. Hillary Clinton didn't worry. She cooperated fully. She acted like an innocent person.

Republicans universally obstruct and act like they're guilty, so people correctly assume that they're guilty.

Me thinks McCarthy isn't so innocent, but that aside, let him pontificate. :)

Didn’t they have to get a warrant from a federal judge to wiretap trump’s communications based on a fraudulent dossier paid for by the democrats?

But this one is different right?

Gonna be another massive nothing burger. The biggest one of all.

Didn't one of the agents also edit the request for a FISA warrant? Was he held accountable for falsifying documents presented to the FISA court?

Marco Rubio ended it after he lost the primaries

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/25/us/politics/steele-dossier-trump-expained.html

"During the Republican primaries, a research firm called Fusion GPS was hired by The Washington Free Beacon, a conservative website, to unearth potentially damaging information about Mr. Trump. The Free Beacon — which was funded by a major donor supporting Mr. Trump’s rival for the party’s nomination, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida — told Fusion GPS to stop doing research on Mr. Trump in May 2016, as Mr. Trump was clinching the Republican nomination."

Bzzzzt wrong answer. The INITIATED payment to the firm but then stopped. The democrats then came in and paid the same firm to continue and ramp up those investigations.

@Patricio Da Silva , where was your ire or anger when Schumer promised this? Crickets? Garland is acting like the FBI is his new version of the Gestapo... Don't like that? Stazi? KGB? which ever model you like to think about it, this is, of course the conflict you yourself have created.

Interesting analysis. At lot has to do with the victim mentality RW media, blogs and RW radio has cultivated. It's symbiotic and distructive.

exactly what I just said, first conservatives paid them, then they also sold the information to the Clinton campaign

when Clinton learned what was in it, she did what she was supposed too, turned it over to the FBI

And what McCarthy said regarding the AG and FBI director is right on. They will be impeached by March.
