I'm a Reagan Republican. My political views are nearly identical to Ronald Reagan. I'm not to the right or left of where Reagan was.

I'm a conservative nationalist in heart only now since America was surrendered . But Reagan pretty much took care of this nation when he gave amnesty to 3 million illegals. Then they brought in all their families from all over the world. In 1965 the family reunification and dry foot act was passed and ended America. Miami went first then Ca.. I think Nancy Pants led him astray. I think our last president was JFK.

 

Reagan made a deal with the Democrats in Congress. He agreed to a "one-time only" amnesty in exchange for the Democrats agreeing to seal the border. Reagan fulfilled his part of the deal. Then the Democrats backed out and walked away. They lied. Reagan said this was his biggest mistake in his eight years as president.

This is why there will never be "comprehensive immigration reform". The Republicans will never agree to any reform until the border is sealed because the Democrats can never be trusted. But the Democrats will never agree to seal the border (they're dead without a constant supply of illegals), so nothing will ever happen.

We have an environment right now where the media, particularly internet and cable, have taken political positions that are some what like mercenaries- doing everything they can to discredit and dehumanize alternate viewpoints to the agenda they are supporting. They don't just attack their principle enemy, they attack all the strings attached to it. It's a little news, and a lot of propaganda.

This is sort of like polarization, people tend to take one and follow to similar ones. If you follow only one polarity or side, as most people do- you get "news" that is highly editorialized for the purpose of swinging opinions in a particular direction. Over and over, confirming itself. You don't need to read their headline to know what they will be saying, it's the same song, different verse each day.

Some of the worst of these are CNN and HuffPost. That tells me which side you are following, and therefore what conclusions are set up and being presented to you.

Widen your point of view, and particularly be skeptical of articles that are constructed in a way that they either directly tell you what the conclusion is, or set the content up is such a way that it is obvious if you don't question it.

Try to go with the most ethical news sources. BBC is pretty good, so is Reuters.
