Washington (CNN) -- Donald Trump famously pledged to "drain the swamp" of Washington if elected president, getting rid of all the career politicians and lobbyists who buy and sell access and screw the little guy in the process. Fifteen-ish months into Trump's presidency, the swamp hasn't been drained just yet. In fact, you could argue it's swampier than ever. Witness these comments by Mick Mulvaney, the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, in a speech to banking executives on Tuesday (bolding is mine): "What you do here matters. We had a hierarchy in my office in Congress. If you were a lobbyist who never gave us money, I didn't talk to you. If you were a lobbyist who gave us money, I might talk to you. If you came from back home and sat in my lobby, I talked to you without exception regardless of the financial contributions." https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/25/politics/mick-mulvaney-lobbyists/index.html How long will it be before Trump supporters figure out Trump is The Swamp?
"How long will it be before Trump supporters figure out Trump is The Swamp?" Your guess is as good a smine. IF it happens at all. Remember: Trump DEMANDS "loyalty"... and "loyal " they are.
Personally I think that he wants to go down in history as the third USA President to tackle the flaws in banking policy...... but that needs to be set up very carefully. https://www.michaeljournal.org/articles/politics/item/abraham-lincoln-and-john-f-kennedy Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy Did going bankrupt in '91 prepare Mr. Trump for the Presidency?
I think Trump is a crook (not that I think a lot of other Presidents have not been) and he's a swamp denizen. Reform the banking system? Not a chance.
Lobbyists are certainly an integral part of the swamp and I view all members of congress as the swamp. I doubt Trump can drain the swamp. He doesn't have the power to do it. The voters need to do it.
The only investment being rewarded was in terms of time. As in, if you actually went to his office. But as usually, the LW anxiety club will lie about anything, including the meaning of this remark. Now, we know the Clinton Foundation actually engaged openly in this practice, and yet, nothing from the LW folks here who are now hyperventilating over a non existent fantasy crime....
I don't see the problem with Mulvaneys comments. Does anyone even CNN not think this is the current state of our Congress? Mulvaney is just speaking the truth. Leftists blame Trump for everything and his appointees. Only WE can drain the swamp. And we don't. We keep reelection after reelection voting for the same bought and paid for shills decade after decade. /shrug
I think that this was just the beginning of his plans to cause the USA economy to boom. http://www.infowars.com/trump-calls-for-auditing-the-fed/ Trump Calls For Auditing the Fed I am of the belief that before the year 2025 the stage will be set for a massive increase in real estate prices in RURAL America within one hundred miles of major USA cities. I suspect it will already have began by the 2020 election. The new technology that makes working from home so much easier will of course play an important role in this trend..... but without better Federal Reserve policies...... it could not happen. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...-fed-policy-pay-off-usa-national-debt.489825/ Could a real estate boom plus better Fed policy pay off USA national debt?
He hasn't done anything significant to help the economy. A "massive increase" in rural real estate prices would be bad for the economy. The Fed is reacting to the pols' unwillingness to implement good economic policies. Personal tax cuts so people can buy more Asian junk doesn't help, nor do policies that encourage home building. Have you ever seen a house make anything?
It has to be a joke. I must be missing something. What's so bad about prioritizing constituents over lobbyists?
