I also used to try making my own meat burgers using best quality meat but they tasted so bland.

I think that you description of all ground meat is exaggerated to say the least. My dad who usually was the one who shopped for meat at his favorite small neighborhood meat store would usually have the butcher grind a pice of meat my bad would select. Funny my mom was the one who grew up on a farm while my dad grew up in a suburb but he thought he was the expert on meat. He and my uncle ( dads. Rotherham) tried making home made kielbasa and the batch caught fire in the smoker. EpiIc failure. Mom, my aunt and all of us told the story for years even at their funerals.
