I do not believe that he Fems are stupid enough to move toward socialism, Remember Bernie the socialist becomes a Democrat once every four years. They do have a problem with their teens and the Four fools lead by that Ocasio Chick. Yet those four foolish chicks do not have the power the only think they run is their big arsed mouths.

Of the current crop of Democratic boys and girls left standing only about three of them including Bernie the real socialist have socialistic tendencies.

The Democrats are way too liberal and we're too week on defense that is why more than 20 years ago I stopped being a Democrat.

And now Trump University, wack-a-mole noted. The fact remains as far as Trump not a CFV. If the voters don't like they will express that, it is not a matter of impeachment and the Congress usurping the election.

I think the freshmen congressmen have a point. All one has to do is look at the impeachment polls to see where America stands at this point in time. Nationwide, 35% favor impeachment, 45% oppose, 20% unsure or undecided or just don't give a dang. Question 29

    https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/hash0nbry8/econTabReport.pdf

The majority of those in favor of impeachment are Democrats and Democratic leaning independents. Democrats favor impeachment 63-17, Republicans oppose impeachment 82-8 making this more or less a purely partisan issue. Independents oppose impeachment 45-28 with 27% not sure, undecided and just don't care.

With independents and Republicans against impeachment there is a very real possibility this could backfire on the Democrats if impeachment is seen as a purely partisan vendetta, ploy or tactic. One needs to keep in mind the GOP needs a net gain of 18 seats to take back control of the house. I don't think that will happen, but if independents see the Democratic controlled house more fixated on impeaching Trump than conducting the nations business, it might.

One should remember that in 2016 when the Republicans maintained control of the house they won the independent vote 51-47. When the blue wave of 2018 happened, independents switch to the Democrats congressional candidates 54-42 giving the Democrats a 40 seat pick up. I'd advise looking at independents in the generic congressional poll, question 111. 32% say they'll vote for the Democratic congressional candidate 34% for the Republican with 25% not sure. Independents are up for grabs, a partisan political vendetta against Trump resulting in the house impeaching him could drive most of the remaining 25% who aren't sure into the GOP hands. It might not, but it could. Is the risk worth it?

I'll add this, today the Democrats have 35 seats at risk of switching or in the competitive column vs. 18 for the Republicans. This changes all the time, it's very dynamic, but perhaps Pelosi should take heed if she wants to remain Speaker or if the democrats want to remain in control.

    Sorry my misstep.

    Explain the difference then.

It's not a CFV and perfectly legal and done everyday. I have post several FEC former commissioners making that point and Trump has not been charged with a campaign finance violation, his campaign has not been charged with a campaign finance violation. It's going nowhere and certainly of no interest to the Congress, there are proper authorities to handle such matters.

No.. As I said, if you cannot objectively assess the difference between that theoretical Trump University example and what happened with these payoffs by yourself, explaining it to you will do no good...

It was a really poor comparison... I hope somebody pointed that out to the author at some point.

So you can't express what is the difference, they were two legal matters to be resolved by his attorney for a variety of reasons, what is the distinction you are attempting to make here for the point being made?

They want impeachment without impeachment and taking the country down this road for their own political interest is despicable. Yes it may very well backfire on them to put the country through this when it is their base that supports it not the majority of the country. People are tired of it, none of the predictions have come true none of the allegations have proven true. Just GIVE IT UP.

Big difference between 1974 and today along with the presidents. In 1974 the Democrats had a 58-42 advantage in the senate. They needed but 9 Republican senators to go along with impeachment and removal. Today the GOP enjoys a 53-47 advantage, which would require 20 Republican senators to join the Democrats to accomplish removal. That is if every Democrat senator voted guilty which I can think of two which probably wouldn't.

Secondly, a majority of independents were in favor of impeach and remove from office on Nixon. A majority of independents believed Nixon committed an impeachable crime. Not so with independents today. Today by a 48-25 margin, independent are against impeachment. Impeachment would be a total waste of time, energy and money. Probably would benefit Trump as most American don't want him impeached. Only democrats do along with some democratic leaning independents.

Impeachment, if seen as a very partisan political vendetta against Trump actually could help him and the GOP in 2020. About the only ones favoring impeachment are Democrats. Put it this way, 35% of all Americans favor impeachment, the Democratic party makes up approximately 30% of the total electorate. Add a few democratic leaning independents to the Democratic total of 30%, you have your 35%. That make impeachment a purely partisan Democratic Party issue, ploy, tactic, call it what you will.

You misunderstood both of my references, but I was cryptic, so I'll clarify..

The polling on impeaching Nixon went up every month after official hearings started, where impeaching Nixon was at 19%... That's right..... 19%.....

Trump hearings formally start tomorrow and he's not remotely that low...

My reference to the Senate was it's not remotely a lock the R's have the Senate after 2020... I can point out several 50/50 scenarios...

I'll surrender Alabama, but you have to know Colorado is gone. I suspect Arizona, Maine, and NC are going to be uphill for the incumbents as well (plus I have a good dark horse D upset special as well).

Finally, we have SO much more information at this stage on Trump than anybody had on Nixon in May 1973.... Nadler has several directions he can go in, which is both a blessing and a curse....

I agree that the senate is 50-50 in 2020. The Dems pick up 3 lose 1 is the most likely. A good presidential candidate attractive to independents could net the Democrats 2-3 more. Coat tails, NC, perhaps two seats in Georgia if they have a more moderate senate candidates. If the Democrats nominate a candidate attractive to the independent voter, Hillary wasn't, you won't have to worry about impeachment in 2021 or after as Trump will be gone.

I have always said 2020 boils down as to who the Democrats nominate. With the right candidate, one that is attractive to independents, the democrats win in a landslide, take the senate and increase their position in the house. One that is disliked as much or more than Trump by independents, another 2016 is a very real possibility. Which candidate that is, the right one is up to the Democrats to figure out. They blew it in 2016 and could do so again in 2020. 2020 is an election for the Democrats to lose, Trump and the GOP can't win it, but the Democrats could lose it with the wrong candidate. But so too was 2016.

I think the Democrats in the House would be better served by concentrating on legislation good for America as a whole than being fixated on Trump. But that is just my opinion. Right now independents don't like either congressional party in the House. 21% have either a very favorable or somewhat favorable view of the Democratic congressional critters, 54% have a very unfavorable/somewhat unfavorable view of them. Republicans in the house aren't any better, 19% of independents view House GOP'ers 19% very or somewhat favorable, 56% very/somewhat unfavorable. Questions 69A and 69B.

It should be noted congress's job approval has been above 40% since 2006 and usually 20% or below since 2012 with a couple exceptions. The last time congress had a job approval above 50% was 2003.

Trump's approval ratings are dismal and the economy is about to tank. Best to leave him in office to mess up the Republicans' chances in 2020. After he's out of office SDNY and others can go to town. He's too corrupt to get off without charges once he's out of office.

That's a lot to unpack and I'm heading out to Home Depot, but a couple of quick thoughts.

    1. Fixation on Trump.... The House has approved a ton of bills sitting on McConnell's desk, including election security and guns... At this point, I'm not putting any blame on what the House has done.

Since 5/23, other than votes on arm sales to SA and try and override Trump vetoes, my senator has made 3 recorded votes - Esper, Border Humanitarian aid, and the 2 year budget. That's IT!!

    2. Candidate - As far as I can see, Biden is the only major candidate who will meet your criteria... Yeah, he's old and he makes verbal mistakes, but in controlled situations, he's easily still got enough to serve for 4 years to "methadone" us off of Trump to more reasonable political times. My preferred candidate would be Amy Klobuchar, but she's gained no traction for whatever reason. I think a Joe/Amy ticket would be pretty tolerable to moderates and Independents, while preparing her (and the US) to be the candidate in 2024... I feel a lot of people would feel better about a female POTUS if we had a female VPOTUS first.

    3. I see no chance the Dems win both seats in Georgia... One was a long shot, but it's certainly more in play than it really should be...

Bull... the only poison is that the Trumpublicans want to continue the spin that the House is over-focused on impeachment...

Just because Trump cannot do one thing at a time doesn't mean others can't do multiple things at the same time...

Profiting off his businesses re emoluments, continuing to be involved in his businesses while President, diverting government spending to his businesses, spending almost a third of his time at his properties while President at taxpayer's expense, etc etc etc.

And that's not even including his inappropriate involvement in the US justice system - trying to use the DOJ to punish opponents and help his friends out.

All of this is banana republic despot stuff. Happening in America.
