Moderate Muslim: is there such a thing?

Nobody, not even Muslims, can seem to pick out the signs of a Radical Muslim vs. a Moderate. it's only until after they strap on a bomb and blow up a market that we say "that's a Radical Muslim!!"...but we can't seem to pick up on the signs early on. why is that? and why aren't so-called Moderate Muslims working with authoritites in America to thwart a person form become a Radical, instead of Law Enforcement working with their hands tied and stumbling upon would be radicals who are mostly pasty's and not real characters of the Jihads.

So the question remains, Is there really such a thing as a Moderate Muslim? or is that just a politically correct tag put them, when actually they are Radicals waiting to happen?

There aren't moderate Muslims. I hate that term. It gives... Legitimacy to the fundies. As a significant portion of the Muslim community.

Why should normal Muslims have to be distinguished like that? We are Muslims. They are extremist/fundamentalist/crazy Muslims - whatever you want to call them.

 

The NY city police has just completed a report after infiltrating the muslim mosques and society even outside of New York, and they reported no evidence of terrorism or signs of internal organization against the counrty at all.

That is a pretty good sign that they are as American as were the Japanese in 1940.

What the American Christian Churches need do is apply their tenets of Love thy enemy and start meeting and interacting with the whole of the uslim community.
America needs a step toward friendship now, before some triuble making demogogues start to divide the country in regard to race, religion color or creed, as they always try to do.

 

I know many Muslims, one of whom used to attend the street "Mosque" of Abu Hamza, and none of them are as radical or dogmatic in their belief as you are.

In Islam there is no such thing as moderate.
There is the house of Islam: Everywhere on the globe Islam rules.
And there is the house of war: Everywhere Islam does not rule.
There is nothing in between.
There are however Muslims that are moderate people. As such they have trouble accepting their belief for what it is.
Most of the Muslims you will meet in the west are either moderate people or pretend or be so.

I do study Islam, as well as Buddhism, Hindu, and several other religions. As an agnostic, I feel that I should not question someone's belief unless I understand those beliefs, and so IO study them as a hobby.

Most of the things associated with Muslim Nutjobs have nothing to do with the religion. The stuff about martyrs getting 72 virgins is not even found in the Quran, it's found in documents written after the Quran and the majority of Muslims do not believe it.

According to the Quran, committing suicide is always a sin, under all circumstances and always is an unforgivable sin and leads to (*)(*)(*)(*)ation. Also, I have read several translations of the passages about killing non-believers, and the most common thing about them is that they do not talk about anyone who is not Muslim, but people who attack Islam. According to the person who I was studying Islam under, it was a misinterpetation, and the Quran actually clearly states that you should not kill people simply for not following Islam, in that they (*)(*)(*)(*) themselves by their choose.

 

Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord;
They rejoice in the bounty provided by Allah: And with regard to those left behind, who have not yet joined them (in their bliss), the (Martyrs) glory in the fact that on them is no fear, nor have they (cause to) grieve.
