So you think that drawing Mohammed is the same as child porn?

I won't post any more cartoons of Mohammed today as it was purely a protest against free speech but I find it difficult to put cartoons and child porn in the same boat.

Just wondering if you can explain how they are the same thing and why you think drawing a cartoon is the same as videoing a child whilst raping it?

 

When the leftists finally GET the fact that Islam is very dangerous then Wilders will have accomplished his mission. He's doing a very good job of that so far - but his job is far from finished.

The right as well. This whole problem stems from a lack of respect for individual liberty in general - the principle on which this nation was founded and specifically lack of respect for freedom of the press and freedom of speech.

The US in particular but Western Democracy in general was founded on respect for individual liberty. How can we sit by and happily watch our Gov't trample over individual liberty .. and then cry foul ?

Respect for individual liberty is not respect "ONLY" for individual liberties that one agrees with. This is the problem that most people do not get. Belief in freedom of speech is is belief in freedom for speech that one disagree's with. If one does not believe in that then one does not believe in freedom of speech.

The interesting thing is that the only people having coherent and functional conversations about the problem with Islamist's ( an Islamist is someone who hates individual liberty "secularism" someone who believes that religious belief should be force on others through physical violence (Law - Sharia in this case) are "Muslims" !

Our MSM refuses to educate the public on what an Islamist is, and what this means. This results in an ignorant public who can not even tell the difference between an Sikh and a Muslim, never - mind a Muslim and an Islamist. Not all Muslims are Islamist's.

Why would we let people into the country that hate the principle on which this nation was founded ? - "Individual Liberty is "ABOVE" the legitimate authority of Gov't" ?

This is not a religious test .. it is a test of one's belief in the founding principle. If your religious tells someone that they should kill people - are we to accept this because it happens to be a religious rather than a secular belief ? It matters not where the belief comes from - which is why it is not a religious test.

The problem is that most people do not even know the founding principle - never mind understand how it should be applied.

12 years of school and we manage not to teach a kid the basic principles on which this nation was founded. How can we expect people to respect these principles when people do not even know what they are ?

 

The moderate Muslims (many of them are probably a better person than I myself am, at least in some ways, I'll admit) can't bring themselves to condemn the UNDERLYING problem here - Mohammad saying in the FIRST place that it's illegal in Islam to draw pictures of him, or of living things. They can't condemn that - so even the moderate Muslims have failed the world in this regard. Also, Mohammad's example of approving of mere critics of his being KILLED for their blasphemy is a huge part of the problem! If he had NOT approved of Asma B. Marwan's and Abu Afak's slaughter (etc.), then Muslims today would say "well, we don't want you drawing pictures of Mohammad, but we don't want to make that illegal and we certainly don't want to kill you for that, either".

Nonsense - Muslims would not kill cartoonists if Mohammad's example of killing critics of his, and telling people that they are forbidden to draw him, had not existed. They are not "mentally ill", they are "following their religion"! Can you condemn that religion, Nonnie?

 

You don't seem to realize the EXTENT of the THREATS to regular Dutch citizens, and to the Dutch military in Afghanistan, that Muslims have threatened....those THREATS are what shut it down - threats of Islamic violence shut it down. Do you condemn Muslims for giving their children a book (Qur'an) that has well over 100 Jihad-enabling verses in it, Steady Pie?....or do you not understand the Qur'an very well?

 

Don't give religion a pass.

I didn't ? Not even close. It is largely because of religion that we do not address the issues addressed in my post.

An NON "intolerant and violent" religion would not be threatening people for DRAWING CARTOONS in the first place!

 

How about, for once, JUST ONCE, Muslims prove a critic of Islam WRONG by NOT threatening them!? Wouldn't that be refreshing!
Most critics of Islam need bodyguards - Spencer, Geller, Wilders, Hirsi Ali, etc., etc., etc.
