So let's say the Left's wet dream of one party rule in the US becomes reality, will Conservatives become America's Jews ala 1939 Germany?

So you yourself are in favor of multi-party rule, including the party of the left that you speculate could make conservatives into the equivalent of Jewish people in Nazi Germany? Sounds to me like you're pretty much in favor of the same type of one-party rule that you claim the other side is, as long as that one party is the one you agree with.

    Biiiiiiigggggg Suuuurrrrppprrriiissseeee.

I favor greater Conservative representation as we still make up the majority in the US.

Both parties are moving away from the center.

I doubt that defecting Republicans will be able to prevent the Democrats from continuing to move in the direction they've been moving, but
maybe we will see some sort of new party emerge, built out of the sane elements of the Democrats and Republicans.

I would admit this is unlikely ... new parties are very rare in politics.

But if there is a new party, what would it look like? Or, what should it look like?

The one I would like to see would embody the cultural values that both Democrats and Republicans held before the 1970s, with some modernization
to take account of the (welcome) changes in society that have seen women and Blacks admitted to full legal equality, plus basically the spirit of the
Democrats under FDR, although a bit bolder in their economics.

But the most important question would be foreign policy: both the liberal and conservative establishment are still strongly wedded to the idea that the US must be the sole world hegemon. Both Democrats and Republicans have carried on as if we had not won the Cold War.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. We need to listen to that wicked old realist Henry Kissinger, at a minimum: our biggest task will be to bring China into a partnership with America.

Most Americans would not object to a sensible foreign policy -- but the foreign policy establishment is united in pursuit of hegemony.

I disagree that Democrats are wedded to the idea of American hegemony. Obama is just one man, but he was bound and determined to make America weak. But my question is what's wrong with American hegemony? As the world's sole superpower, we've kept most of the world more or less at peace since 1992. Without American hegemony, both Russia and China would be far more expansive than they are. Israel and the Middle East would be at constant war. Saudi Arabia and Iran would probably be at constant war. India and Pakistan barely restrain their hostilities at the best of times. Turkey has become expansionist in its quest to keep the Kurds from declaring independence. Who knows what kind of wars would be going on in South America. American hegemony is a good thing. And I think most Americans agree that America should remain the world's sole superpower. Most people in the Western world and not a few in the non-Western world think so, too. The Australian government said the American nuclear supremacy keeps them at peace, so they could not support a nuclear-free world goal.

No, Democrats need Independents...and they need Liberals....mainly minorities and millennials. They do NOT need republicans. That 30% can stay elsewhere....I certainly do not want those types in any party I support. I want the Democratic party to stay far, far away from racists and xenophobes...no thanks.

You must have forgot about #Walkaway. That started up long before Liberal Repubs in Kansas and a Repub in California switched to their home ground.

Yeah, that "gay New York hairdresser" has started an avalanche of Dems becoming Republicans. What happened last November? Did Democrats miss the "gay New York hairdresser" revelation?

California is a lost cause. While I have to visit there once in a while because of extended family, I usually feel a sense of relief when the plane lifts off of the LAX runway.

What happened was 40 House Never Trumpers of the Republican Party sold out their Constituients, Like The Repub Governor of Illinois did.

Now the Demos have Nuts like Tram, Tlaib, Oman, and AOC. We shall see if the Demos in the House can retain their numbers.

    What Happened with the Senate?

Blacks/ Latinos/ Asians are the backbone of the Democratic party, at least in California. Trump will cost the GOP years of election losses.

That is why its not called the United State of California. You mean like wining more seats in the Senate.

Looks like he will cause the Repubs the Next 50 years of winning in the Courts. While causing the Demos and their cult following to lose their headgames with the Courts.

At least now you know about all those minorities bailing on your Demo Party.

Honestly, just take the words of fellow Republicans. Black/ Latinos are generally quite religious. The "party of Lincoln" once meant decency. But Nixon traded the soul for ugly Dixiecrats; the Trump base.

Trump Has Captured the Blue Dog Vote - Russell Newquist
    russellnewquist.com/2016/02/trump-has-captured-the-blue-dog-vote
Some people I’ve discussed it with refuse even to see it. But the proof is in the political extinction of Blue Dog Democrats. The term Blue Dog was always just a bit nebulous, as any coalition tends to be. The term itself comes from the Blue Dog Coalition, formed in 1994 as a response to the Republican Contract With America. But the coalition of voters that they represented goes back much further than that – …

The Blue Dog Coalition, a fading wing of the Democratic Caucus in recent years, is leaning on a controversial ally as it tries to regain a toehold on power in the House: President Donald Trump.

This one wasn't. Oh and it doesn't change up that the Blue Dog Demos gave Trump the win. The Repubs by themselves wasn't enough.
