If he had been accused of one, wouldn't he have not gotten the visa to come in the first place? Man there's just something missing here. Frankly, I'm taking everything I know from the South Bend tribune. That's where yahoo got most of its info for the story so I'd rather go straight to the source.
Just because he supported Trump is not a pass to break the law. Maybe in a leftists mind, leftists are all about tribalism. I also love how leftists get angry if you say Obama spied on Trump, but will say Trump colluded with Russia with 0 evidence. Luckily, they are losing America.
Illegals shoukd never be given the right of citizenship unless they leave the country then try to regain entry under legal means. Illegals are criminals since they committed illegal entry into the country. It's that simple.
Either ICE is messing with him(getting him all the legal documents and just making him go to Florida from Indiana every year to report), the deportation order being in place(despite all his legally acquired documentation) is preventing the decade long wait since application of going through, or something is screwy with his past back home. The South Bend Tribune article is made from interviews with the wife and the lawyer. No ICE quotes in there that I saw. http://m.southbendtribune.com/news/...cle_b0867d71-c4e6-56db-938d-71d561e05785.html
It took a little longer than that for my wife to get her green card. Actually, that depends on your country of origin and other details. For an unskilled worker from Mexico, for example, without a sponsor like a spouse, it pretty much can't be done. There's also all sorts of other nonsense. My wife couldn't go to her father's funeral, make a career change or even pick up a few hours waiting tables for extra money without losing her visa.
They were celebrating because he could finally come here and live with them. He wasn't here while he waited, he went the route people want them to take.
In Thailand they have to have a job for a year before they can get a visa to come here (or any country) and usually limit the time you're allowed to stay because they don't want people leaving Thailand to come to America. When I was in the oilfield I got very close with an International Associate Engineer from Thailand and when she went back home, she ended up quitting her engineering job in the oilfield there because the guys gave her so much verbal abuse for having a "man's" job. When she tried to come back, she was denied because she had to have a job for at least a year. That was in 2003 and 2004. Last time I saw her, she'd come to visit in 2007 owned her own heavy farm equipment company. I don't know if things have changed since then.
You are presuming there is a "right way" available to him. Many of the Mexicans who come here illegally never had a legal option to begin with.
Oh well. We have a right to decide who can enter our country. And if somebody is told they cannot come in and then does it anyways they are not a "good person" in my book, they are an illegal invader.
No, I don't unfortunately. The future was written years ago of the First Successful Black two term President. In todays culture, no ones going to buck that horse. It's all about feel good narratives today, facts don't matter.
The quotas we have now are badly outdated. We have the right to decide, but reason is better than arbitrariness in decision making.
Actually, this is a case where this illegal immigrant should be allowed to stay. They had enough confidence to vote for Trump, now they're facing the repercussions of voting for such a authoritarian. But this guy was registered with ICE, he had documentation such as a SSN and a drivers license, he's been here since 1998, he's contributed to America in a positive light. Why deport him? There's no reasoning for logically doing so in this case.
He came here to visit his aunt then go back home and decided to stay. 2 years later, he is married to a us citizen. 7 years later he applied for citizenship.
Has he applied for citizenship? It isn't easy to get when you admit to having been here illegally, even if you are married.
He was in the system since 2000 because he got caught and ordered deported. He was given legal papers by ICE, was married in 2000 and applied for citizenship 7 years later.
Well the mayor of SB says that he is a model citizen. Of course we know that that is not possible because Trump said that mexico is not sending its "best people". My understanding is that the man and his wife took a wrong turn in Niagra Falls back in 2000 and ended up in Canada. He was arrested and given 30 days to "self deport". He decided to stay and apply for citizenship. 17 years later it still has not been resolved. Kinda sad if she thought trump would give her husband an exception..
He didn't apply for citizenship until 2007, 7 years after marrying a US citizen. Something is weird here.
It's always sex with you guys , isn't it........I laughed at her as a Trump supporter, not as a woman... Republicans don't have a clue what sexism is and shouldn't comment. Uh, You righties have made it clear that you don't care about women, blacks, gays, and muslims or immigrants or the elderly who rely on Meals on Wheels or poor children no matter what their political affiliation is (haven't you watched the news and Trump in the last two years!?). . .Did you notice that it is TRUMP and his supporters who are doing this to the people in the OP or will you blame Democrats for that, too....
Yeah, it does sound weird. I tend to think that these types of situations take a long time to work thru the process.
