Yeah. At least the grocery store tabloid doesn't really do any harm, and it doesn't really pretend to be something it isn't.

Conway: Trump isn't going to release tax returns






Donald Trump's aide Kellyanne Conway on Sunday said President Donald Trump will not release his tax returns.

"The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns," Conway, a key Trump adviser, said on ABC's "This Week."

"We litigated this all through the election. People didn’t care. They voted for him, and let me make this very clear: most Americans are -- are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like."

A White House petition calling for the president to release his tax returns has received more than 100,000 signatures, the number it needs to warrant a response from the administration.

The petition was created Friday, shortly after Trump took the Oath of Office. It pushes the White House to "immediately release Donald Trump's full tax returns, with all information needed to verify emoluments clause compliance."
Conway said during the interview Sunday that the public knows Trump and his family are complying with all the ethical rules regarding the president's business empire.

People want to know they're going to get tax relief under a Trump administration, Conway said.

"He has promised that we just hope the Democratic Senate will support his tax relief package," she said.

"Because the Democratic Senate in 2001 did for President Bush, George, they passed tax relief for all Americans by June of that year. We hope the same happens here."

 

CNN corrected the story as soon as they got busted for the lie. Meanwhile the myth that the MLK bust was removed by Trump lives on much like "hands up don't shoot". This is the media's game sling mud in bold headline then quietly retract later. The damage is done ,the myth seed planted.

 

No one believes the MSM anymore. The political class, its minions and followers just pretend to believe what they know is Fake News.

 

Once upon a time, CNN was my go-to place for news. This political climate, however, has greatly compromised their ability to deliver factual news. This is not an occasional gaff, as you would like to characterize it. CNN is obsessed with putting an anti-Trump spin on every single story - and with disseminating false narratives. This is MY opinion, after observing a speech first hand in real time, and comparing what I heard with their coverage and "interpretation" of the speech.

Recently Wolf Blither made public his fantasies of an assassination that would put Obama back into power.
I think they are all crazed, and should just retire.

 

Not only that, National Inquirer was sued so many times that they are uber-vigilant on sources and fact checking so they have defense in place next time a star sues them. So, I'd say the tabloid is more reliable than CNN.

I watched the segment with Trump's buddy. Forget his name. Then right after that Michael Moore came on. Both segments were about Trump lying about how the media is treating him. Then to prove it they made up some more lies about him.

 

Ha... they took it as Trump hate, when she was probably referring to Obama's presidency.

CNN is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing themselves over big time.

Are you fishing for insults?
You start by calling people expressing their opinion a derogatory name, then claim their opinions are not their own. Then you fall into identity politics. Impressive!

 

No, we don't agree. There are news sites that spin everything they write/ report, and some that endeavor to simply report the truth without varnish. It is up to the reader/ watcher to take in information from a variety of sources so they are informed, and to use their brain and teachings to distinguish fact from opinion.

 

CNN is incredible unless it is reporting against its now obvious bias in favor of the DC political class. It rarely does that.

 

And it matters now how? How many times is the MSM going to purposely report twisted opinion as news then correct later after the damage is done? That's all we got during the election. Glad it didn't work.

It matters because it shows that CNN is willing to take a second look at something they published as news and make sure that it is correct. I'm not sure that a Nancy Sinatra tweet did all that much "damage."

Seriously, discrediting the free press is a theme in fascism, and something we should probably avoid. Our schools teach propaganda techniques and how to recognize them, as well as the difference between fact and opinion.

 

They are caving to pressure, is all that is. More and more, news outlets seem to think if they can get away with it, OK. Fact checking is incumbent on a news agency - BEFORE they let their conceit rule the day. Many people only go to one trusted new outlet - like CNN - for their information. They don't sit through an Inaugural speech, they get what they think is a synopsis from CNN. Which began another false narrative using the description "dark" which has been picked up and mimicked across the MSM. I saw nothing dark about the speech. Unless you want to interpret Trump saying, the dark days of do-nothing, self-enriching politicians is behind us. That's a bright message, in my opinion.

 

They bowed to pressure from Nancy Sinatra, for sure. She called them out for making an assumption based on the other tweets in her Twitter feed, rather than asking what she meant.

Frankly, the partisan spinning of "alternative facts" bothers me more than a correction by a news outlet. The latest controversy over crowd size makes little difference in the grand scheme of things. However, if partisans are allowed to spin "alternative facts" as news, when there is true danger, we won't know. No one should completely trust everything they read, but should actively engage in staying abreast of many news outlets and drawing their own conclusions. I find this spinning of "alternative facts" and attempts to control the narrative to be frighteningly fascist. The free press is critical to our democracy.

 

If you purposely do not report the facts then you shouldn't be allowed to report at all. Or you can always stop calling yourselves a news source if all you have to offer is propaganda. There are no media standards anymore. It's time that's changed.

 

She actually did make the tweet. They actually did report on the tweet she made. The error was in the interpretation of what she meant. That doesn't change the fact that she made the tweet.

 

Yes, but the fact is, CNN didn't have the facts. They just assumed what she meant and ran with it as fact. There's no integrity in journalism if your facts are nothing more than your opinion. Just to be clear. I'm not saying it's exclusive to CNN. They all do it including Fox. We're held accountable when we lie about people in a public forum. It's time they are, too.

 

Actually, I think I was mistaken about Sinatra.

 

Well, to me, part of the job of being a reputable news source (or any reasonable reporter, really) is to pick up a phone and confirm information before publishing it. Then again, that's just me...

 

I havent seen a story that breitbart has got wrong yet. However just in the last couple of weeks CNN have had to apologize 4 or 5 times for their stories being fake. Take for example the number of people at the inauguration. CNN reported it was record low crowd, however from pics and from public transport data. The crowd was almost twice the size as obamas crowd. Another example is the Russian conspiracy theory that CNN has been pushing since the election.

 

CNN has discredit itself by acting like an arm of the DNC.
