Mahatma Gandhi didn't think so. You can never enslave people against their will. - - - Updated - - - Not if vast overwhelming majority of the people supported it.
Rights are Inherent and are not subject to a popularity contest. You may not like the fact you have Freedom of Speech, for example but guess what? You're stuck with it. All government can do is prevent the exercise of Rights.
That "vast overwhelming majority" is quantified as "38 states' legislatures have to ratify any amendment". Other than that, your suggested changes are unconstitutional.
Feel free. I'll jump in in a few. I've got to find a Senior Project Manager for overhead high voltage construction and might be involved for a bit
You have to start somewhere to accomplish your goals. This would be a good start. - - - Updated - - - Okay fair enough.
You do know that this is never going to happen in our lifetime, don't you? This is your pipe dream and your pipe dream only. This country is currently trying to eliminate the death penalty. Most on death row are there for 15 years or more. This year we executed only 20 people and each year we execute fewer people.
Chuck, I know a small handful of people who share the same vision on this so-called "pipe dream"; I know that I'll never see it come to fruition, but perhaps my children or grandchildren will. Either way I'll be out of the picture by then and it won't matter to me anymore, however in the meantime i'm going to maintain my viewpoint on this. Nice to see you pop in once in a while; be well now.
Look at it this way... you want to cut down on deaths.... we all do. It is possible that we will see an end to the death penalty in our lifetime.
Death penalty for having a gun. Let's start with the death penalty for anyone committing a crime with a gun. But libs like you would have a total melt down if we did that. - - - Updated - - - Good luck with that.
If you live in IL, drive to IN, buy a gun, and drive back to IL with it, you have committed a federal felony. Thus, the call for "national" gun laws has already been answered.

Yeah.... and in IL, my OH CCW allows me to have a loaded gun on my person while inside a motor vehicle, but not outside it.
You would not be able to drive to Indiana to get a gun there because it would be just as hard as Illinois. How can you not see this?
