I wish being a bit facetious, I guess. And I agree with you.

Still, kind of amusing imagining hardline people with pigtails and a sunny smile. :sun:

To call traumatised people fleeing wars and persecution 'lying welfare shoppers' is 'unrealistic'.

Firstly most of them are not fleeing wars or persecution, they are fleeing their own pig sty of a country and hope by telling a few lies they can live on welfare in Australia. Secondly, those few that genuinely came from war and persecution escaped from the war and persecution some time ago and they are now welfare shoppers. Other countries, Holland in particular, with generous welfare systems have had the same trouble. They had people traveling right across Europe to lob on the Dutch doorstep and claim assylum.

Yes, it is disgusting. And cheering that refugees will be sent to Cambodia is beyond disgusting. A case of relying on their bigotry instead of facts that are readily available.

The cause of death of Hamid Khazaei.

According to the report, only 200 reported cases in the world since 1920. Quite staggering with the information that the bacteria is found in soil and stagnant water. Proof that Manus Island is a hell-hole.

So he was just plain unlucky. Had he contracted one of the more common bacteria he would still be alive. There was no reason to suspect he had contracted something more vicious than a common pathogen.

    No mate,
unlucky is the one who cannot get proper treatment when really sick.....
The one who is basically denied a proper treatment falls into the category of ethnic cleansing....

Would like to know why ABC News has dropped this story from their website. Government intervening? What an abysmal country we're coming.

Let's see how long the Lateline story stays up:

He was in a grave condition and was NOT given the medical attention he should have been given. He wasn't given ANY medical attention.

Had he been given medical attention he would still be alive. Negligence and human cruelty.

You have no idea, your post is ludicrous.

You would have to be a dead-set idiot, to truly believe anyone telling you they are escaping war and persecution, when they have been living in another country for years, before paying people smugglers to be smuggled into your country. The majority of European countries are now facing major problems, as they now understand these so-called refugees were financial opportunistic refugees, and not legitimate refugees, who are now competing with their own countries citizens for scarce resources.

100& of them live in Indonesia for specific periods of time before paying boat smugglers $10,000 per ticket to have themselves smuggled illegally into Australia. They have somehow managed to convinced some Australians they are fleeing wars and persecution, even though they have been living in Indonesia that is currently engaged in "NO" war. With those facts on the table, I would state they are definitely financial "opportunistic" refugees rather than saying they are genuine refugees.

I don't want to "make you believe" anything, but if you are prepared to do your own unbiased research, then the truth will be come available to you.

You have acknowledge and recognise common sense, that when people flee their country due to wars with a plane to live in another country like Indonesia to save-up money to pay smugglers to smuggle them into Australia; that method is called: premeditated immigration, not someone called a refugee, who is fleeing to the nearest country for safety due to "real" rear of persecution and death.

After all, these boat arrivals advocate they are being persecuted and in fear for their lives do travel through 6 other countries before they even reach Indonesia.

Sorry mate, their stories and actions contradict each other, and it just doesn't make logical sense.

    Mate,
you sound like the propaganda minister for the Abbott government.

Let us assume you are a Christian, you lived in Iraq which we all know is fukked up (due to Howards help).

Where would you flee to, Iran? Syria? Indonesia? All countries, where the Islam is dominent. Your chance to settle would be everything but not good, because not safe.

Why would you think that as a refugee you are only allowed to flee to a neighboring country?

A refugee is much more then a statistic, provided by right wing extremists....

Apart from that I often share your sentiment, but with the subject on refugees we are fire and ice.

    Cheerio

I agree totally with your sentiment regarding Iraq and other contries becoming unstable for their citizens, thanks to wars created by the USA and their allied puppets.

You are making a huge assumption by suggesting that everyone being smuggled from Indonesia by boat into Australia is a Christian, but the actual facts suggest that the majority are Muslims. Therefore, the countries that you suggested in your post to be dangerous and inappropriate for these individuals to settle as refugees based on their faith is not correct.

With all due respect, there are 23.5 million Christians living in Indonesia, and we don't see them all hoping on boats and being smuggled into Australia on the pretense of religious persecution.

    http://www.indonesia-investments.com/culture/religion/christianity/item249

This might be in total conflict with your current concept and ideas of refugees, but someone who lives in another country for a long period of time to save money to be smuggled illegally into another country in NOT under any terms a true refugee - that is called immigration.

The do-gooder brigade like to throw-up the line: "Why would you think that as a refugee you are only allowed to flee to a neighboring country?" The simple point is: if you arrive in Australia by boat after you have traveled through six countries, and live in another one for a long period of time, after you have claimed you fled your original country due to wars, murder and persecution. Then that is called country shopping - immigration.

Yes, we do have a massive problem with refugees, but its not with the financial opportunistic ones arriving from Indonesia by boat, its the genuine individuals hidden away and rotting in refugee camps all around the world, who have done the right thing and applied for refugee status, but are now being penalised because so much money is being spent on these "gate-crashing" financial opportunistic boat arrivals.

It looks like we can agree on:
There are genuine refugees, which are blocked to come to Australia.
    There are many financial refugees.
Not all refugees on boats are economic hoppers.
It would be our governments job, to sort the right ones from the wrong ones.
Blocking them all, is illegal and unaustralian....
    Regards
