Unfortunately, you misunderstand this contract. Russia is tired of the West lying and not keeping its word. For Russia, they promised that the NATO territory would expand from east of Germany - and they deceived it. America stabs the knife in his back smiling. Russians don't like that. Therefore, an agreement was proposed to determine whether the "partners" are ready to answer for their words and whether they are not.
Do not think that you can read Putin's thoughts and then know what he wants. Just listen to what he says - it will be an easy way to find out the truth.

Will you object to my asking for you to produce this NATO agreement, with its supposed pledge not to include any countries East of Germany, or am I just supposed to take your word for gospel, as well as Putin's?

It honestly seems like a very unlikely claim. WHY would NATO ever agree to such a stipulation? But you don't need to explain it; just produce the document.
    Thanks.

That's the problem. There was no document. In words, they promised Gorbachev not to expand NATO to the east. Gorbachev wanted to be friends with America and believed the words. Therefore, Putin finally proposed to conclude an agreement. The rejection of this treaty in itself means a lot for Russia's foreign policy.

In my opinion Pakistan and North Korea are deterred by MAD also. Iran is different. It is a total THEOCRACY run by radical muslim mullah zealots that don't have earthly motivations, just a desire to reach PARADISE.

I'm sorry if your family isn't safe. Mine is. They are right here. Enjoying some fun time in the family room. After that, we will have more fun in the jacuzzi. We are safe. We have never been attacked by foreign missiles or any terrorists at all. Trump kept us safe for his four years in office. If your family was attacked, you have my sympathy. He also kept us prosperous. My pay raises and stock gains attest to that. Sorry if yo invest overseas or somewhere where Trump couldn't help you. Our streets are good, our bridges fine. Again, you must live somewhere quite different than I do.

I agree. The military is not paid enough, although its a heckuva lot better than it was. When I Enlisted in 1970, my base pay was $99/mo.... $78 after leaving the pay line minus taxes, Old Soldier's Home contribution, etc. When I was Commissioned in 1975, my base pay as a brand new 2LT was $600/mo.

I do not argue anything about Russians. Read what I write and stop deliberately misrepresenting what I write.

I in fact challenge the policies of Putin. I do not discuss Russian people. I know the difference between the two on the other hand you clearly do notin your responses and will not make a distinction between the two and assume I lump them as one like you do. That is why I challenged you.

I do not consider Russian as a group collective to assign stereotypes to as you do. I consider each Russian individually if I meet them. I have no idea if any are villains without knowing them but most certainly I consider Putin a fascist Russian mob thug and the clique that supports him to be corrupt Russian mob criminals yes.

Next I am a Canadian. I also may not support the policies of my own Prime Minister or the Opposition Leaders in my country. Imy country we can openly challenge and speak out about what we like and do not like in their policies. Its what we do in a democratic country.

Next what I know is I live next door to the US and we are not preparing to invade the US and yes some of these Americans could be villains. They have these what you would call Armenian Americans called the Kardashians and another who you would call Afro American called Kanye West who are in my opinion very dangerous. I think we would not hesitate to have the UN intercede if they try invade Canada and we would notify Nato.

    Anything else comrade?

Here maybe this picture will help you understand who you are dealing with. Have a nice day.

You're wrong. "The retinue plays the king" (c) and "Every nation deserves the government it has" (c)
There is no bad teacher in a good nation and vice versa. The government is not sent from another planet - these are, in general, the same people as about the other population. By calling Putin a fascist, you yourself are calling fascists 65% of the electorate who voted for him. This is how you call Russians fascists because you simply don't understand the mentality of the Russian people. Your government said that "Evil Putin will attack Ukraine" - you believe.

Who hell cares about Soros? You extreme rightwingers drag out that guy more often than my last cat used to bring home dead critters.
Ah, your latest shtick is that Russia was taking back what the Ukraine stole. Egads.

    Putin is a thug.
    Are you okay?

    Where?
Dictatorial power? Ukraine had 7 presidents in 30 years, while Russia had only 3 (well, let’s be honest - 2).
Forcible suppression of opposition? Ukraine doesn’t imprison people for posting something on Facebook that is critical of Ukrainian government. In Russia - if you question Crimean annexation on Facebook or Vkontakte, then you might get a real prison sentence.
Strong regimentation of society - not in Ukraine, but it’s everywhere in Russia.
Ultranationalism? Again, it’s Russia meddling with its neighbors in the name of protecting Russian nationals, not Ukraine.

So, yeah, welcome to reality - you live in a fascist state!

For one thing, read the definition of "dictatorship" - nothing is said there that is firmly held. And I would not be proud of the president's successes for 30 years of Ukraine. In this question, it is not the quantity that matters at all ;-)
Perhaps in Ukraine they don’t put them in jail - they just kill unwanted journalists there.
Protecting citizens is not nationalism, but a country's constitutional duty. Nationalism is: "москаляку на гiлляку" ;-)

Funny how a nation like the US which is under a totalitarian liberal fascism is calling Russia fascist.

When Ukrainians do it, you call it nationalism, but when Russians do it it’s the constitutional duty?
    :roflol:

Here is a brief list of your nationalists doing their civic duty:

Nah, they don't kill journalists in Ukraine. They were jumping out the windows to feel the breeze.

Elected officials are responsible for the welfare of their people, so what do we have in Ukraine? The Ukrainians now have the lowest standard of living in Europe, but not the politicians.

Yatsenuk who Nuland put in, was kicked out for stealing from the IMF funds. Poroshenko became ten times wealthier while in office. Zalensky was put into office by Kolomoisky the biggest criminal in the world, and who is wanted by Russia for bombing Slaviansk with white phosphorous. Other than that, he's under suspicion for taking down the airliner in Ukraine during an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin's life, as well as for the burning and hacking of the Russian protesters in Odessa.

As for nationalism, it is a 'supremacist' attitude, which is a self-glorification of race and culture and therefore a sin. Patriotism on the other hand, is a love and loyalty towards the people and nation that nurtured you and is therefore a virtue. So let's not confuse the two.

I'll give you all a self esteem
    where arrogance can reign supreme
and where the cries of me, me, me
    will trample all humility.

for dollar bills and slabs of gold.
So go my friends gain what you can
from those below you and fellow man.

I know what "suzerainty" means. The U.S. does not control European policies.
    So what?
Europe has its own trade and foreign policies.
I can see you're struggling.

Oh, c'mon. You know allies are important. Trump weakened our alliances by treating foreign policy as it he was doing a business deal. I don't like what any President has done with foreign policy since George H.W. Bush.

    Absolutely.
Fortunately, religious people sufficiently grounded to lead a nation state are more realistic. Iran is no exception.

My father-in-law (Col. USAF) and mother-in-law used to help enlisted families after he retired.
The pay is still really low for people with technology backgrounds. I won't even talk about leadership skills. We get what we pay for. Same goes for teaching school. This pay is too low...
