Did you have something more than personal attacks to contribute?

Only Trumps administration can be criticized for trying to assist the unemployed to find jobs.

Personally I see nothing wrong. My daughter loves to sit in my lap and will force her way there even when i tell her that she's too old for that. I've given up at this point. I expect it to continue because that's just who she is.

Yep. The left even criticized him for authorizing the killing of a known terrorist. That would have been no big whoop for me honestly. It's when the left started portraying that terrorist as a "scholar" and what all that I realized that TDS was real. It used to be just a political insult. That made me realize that it actually was a disease.

No. The situation that you describe isn't "bad" in the least.

The (obvious) difference in Ivanka's case, is that her Father is a Serial Predator (who was a close friend of a Pedophile (Epstein)).

In any event, back to the OP, Ivanka's "initiative" seems to be an incredibly cynical way to deal with unemployment.

Not criticizing her "initiative" necessarily, but yeah, the delivery was tone deaf.

I suppose this means Trump supporters will now refrain from criticizing me if I suggest that displaced people coming from the manufacturing sector look for jobs in other sectors (which I have, in fact, helped some do). Yes, I'm sure they'll stop slamming me for that now. And let's just forget how they created a meme out of the whole "learn to code" thing, which basically said the same thing that Ivanka is saying now.

I mean, at least it's something. And it's not forcing kids to eat pre-made lunches in school, you can choose to go to the website or not.

Actually Ivanka is offering far more than "learn to code". She's also offering trade schooling.

Some are depending on your age. For example her site links to Home Depot which is offering to train people in trade jobs and place them in jobs through partnerships with nonprofits and institutions. One of which is the Home Builders Institute. But aside from that trade schooling is a lot cheaper than college or university schooling. Some even so cheap that a person working minimum wage can afford it. Some don't even require you to pay until after you've gone through schooling and get a job.

I've been to a trade school. Its well worth it if you take full advantage of it.

Umm...trade schools ARE about blue collar jobs. HVAC, construction, nursing, cooks, automotive and machine repair, welding, masonry....all blue collar jobs, all taught by trade schools.

It doesn't look at all bad to me and isn't presenting itself as the be-all and end-all to solving unemployment, merely providing some resources for people interested in taking that approach. I can't see it as anything other than positive in itself.

I do get the sense that this is only being attacked so viciously and unconditionally because of it's association with the Trumps, just an opportunity to fling out more petty personal insults. That doesn't make the moaners any better than Trump himself.

Those career change sites and services have a limited target. Very few opportunities for those late, certainly at the commercial side.

Mike Rowe has caught his share of backlash over his opinions on this subject as well.

None of this is an attack on the university system, just raising awareness that college is not the only solution.

Honestly if guys like Yang are only partially right about their theories, then learning a skilled trade is an excellent solution.

A machine or AI isnt going to replace skilled trades, they might make them more efficient perhaps, reducing the demand. They will however definitely go after the low hanging fruit, the unskilled worker, which includes some with useless degrees as well.

not sure what the issue is here...if you are out of work due to the chinese virus and want to go back, it might be a good time to look for something else to do, or go to trade school etc

i remember back in 2009/2010 when we had double digit UE due to dem policies lots of americans took the opportunity to go back to school.
