If you think we will have a problem figuring out what Robert E Lee looks like and where he went and what he did without local statues in a park, I will refer you to the internet Web. First click on images. You will see PHOTOGRAPHS. Then click on references and you will see pages of web articles. If the internet goes down tomorrow, the books, articles, and historical records will exist all over this country.

yes there are books written that try to prove a lineage from Lee back through history to Ramses the second but the fact is Lee led an army that tried to retain slavery and in the end got his ass whooped

 

Yet, where I am from we still have British forts and monuments to British accomplishments, in full view of the public. And the British even used slaves!!! Maybe it is a northern thing, but we honor our worthy enemies, as General Lee most certainly was. We don't try to erase them from memory.

 

I don't care what 'types' they are. I don't care how you label them. I care that New Orleans figure this crap out for New Orleans and you get to lobby to have a nice statue of Lee put up on public property near where you live - if you can get the political momentum going to share your vision.

Yeah, right, one of the great generals in US history, honored repeatedly by leaders on both sides of the war, who was against the splitting of the union but chose to defend the lands where his family lived... you would call him a loser?
