What changed? Why did the US pass up Japan's planes?

    LOL

Americans value their freedom, and cannot conceive of being a slave to someone else. So yes, the idea of subservience to an emperor is very alien to us.

Again you are wrong. The emperor is not chosen from god. We have no god. We have many Kami (gods). Japan was founded from emperor Jimmu 660 before christ. Our current Emepror is a direct decendent from Jimmu. The 125th emperor of Japan. We never had a change in dynasty. It is oldest monarchy in the world. The emperor is symbol for our nation. He is the highest authority and also spiritual leader. He is in some ways like a pope for us.

    HUH ? Who's "we " ?

The first portable calculators appeared in Japan in 1970, and were soon marketed around the world. These included the Sanyo ICC-0081 "Mini Calculator", the Canon Pocketronic, and the Sharp QT-8B "micro Compet".

Unless you wish to trace back to the first known tool used to aid arithmetic calculations. which was the Abacus, devised by Sumerians and Egyptians before 2000 BC.

My Dad used something like this : one of each

in Japan most people support the emperor, after all he is the highest authority. and we tend to be right conservative in economic ideas. as i said, dont push your western standards on us.

Well said , Your Emperor , being who he is , has no reason to lie + hoodwink the public , making all sorts of promises in order to get elected.. like the devious lying scoundrels..

In a Republic they have a political system that awards office to the most ruthless, cunning, and selfish of mortals, who are willing to do anything to win power - + equally willing to do anything with it.

I believe our allies should merely goad us into being better capitalists.

You're right , let's be ruled by greed with total disregard of need .

It was greed: - greedy money lenders, greedy Wall Street executives, greedy
CEOs and greedy Americans who used credit to finance untenable lifestyles.

It was Greed which was the cause of US + world economic crisis, But does the blame fall on the individual, or on our increasingly materialistic culture?

America has an economic system set up to create the kind of mess we've seen recently. US form of capitalism encourages materialistic values, and the research shows that people high on materialism ... are more likely to engage in unethical business behaviours and manipulate people for their own purposes.

In present day US + Western culture, greed is held aloft, admired as "success" or "winning." Free enterprise is revered as if it were a religion. Criticism of capitalism is close to being unpatriotic. We should guard against unrestrained Capitalism.

I am not sure what you mean; being better capitalists could include striving for perfection in money management.

I agree. The emperor stands over the dirty, daily politics. He stands above the system. In a way he is also a security system. He can represent all of Japan. Everyone can feel represented from him. A prime minster or president always divides the people, because he only represents his voters.

You are from the UK, so i´m sure you understand.

I take it that you're prefer inventing your own definition of capitalism and reject its universally accepted meaning.

    Hmmmm.

I see no point in further discussion . tata....

If current trends continue probably not longer than two decades. The greedy little pig baby boomer liberals will have all retired and discovered, to their abject horror that their 401(k) fortunes aren't worth (*)(*)(*)(*) because the Quantitative Easing they've been pushing has destroyed the currency....and they aborted the babies that should have been working to pay the taxes to support their Socialist Security Ponzi Scheme..and that's when today's teenagers say "what the (*)(*)(*)(*) am I paying all these taxes for, I didn't agree to borrow this money".

And then the balance of payments STOPS, the borrowing STOPS, the spending STOPS, and the ride is over.

Expect Greecey Riots, expect the miltarized police forces to arrest the Butcher of Bakersfield (he'll have an Austrian accent).

It would be difficult to avoid that situation if we started being sensible today. With King Obama, RATS and RINOS still driving for the cliff's edge, and, indeed, pushing on the accelerator, it's pretty much impossible to stop. Reagan was the last opportunity, really. And the people stupid enough to vote DemocRAT messed it up terribly.

    - - - Updated - - -

For some reason you never once mentioned the greediest people of all, the greedy socialists and the lice, leeches, fleas and ticks that vote for them.

    Why is that?

Just to let you know I am a Fiscally Conservative Socially Liberal Independent from Massachusetts.

The current DEBT issue was created by the Republican Controlled Legislature under Newt Gingrich and Bush Jr.

Now I do not vote along any party lines and I have voted for Republican, Democrat and Independent Presidential Candidates.

Wild Bill Clinton was BULLET PROOF because he was in the right place doing the right thing at the right time.

People could care less he made stains on a woman's blue dress nor did they care what Wild Bill did with a cigar....and they did not care because the U.S. Economy was BOOMING! People were making money everywhichway....and as long as they kept making money they did not care who was in office as long as that person did not do anything that would stop the money from rolling in.

Now BUSH JR. won election next and I personally don't think the man is the Devil as some believe just like some believe Obama is the Devil.

The problem is not only 9/11 occurring but as well the relaxing of certain checks and balances that allowed Corporate America to succumb to MASSIVE GREED.

Because of all this Obama took over at a time the economy and country was both war weary and broke.

The thing is programs like ROMNEY CARE...as it is not Obama Care.....ARE VITAL TO RESTORING THE ABILITY OF THE U.S. CITIZENSHIP TO ONCE AGAIN OBTAIN THE AMERICAN DREAM.

These are the FACTS....we in Mass. have Universal Healthcare and we receive ABSOLUTELY NO FEDERAL ASSISTANCE OR FUNDS.....and everyone in Mass. has Healthcare Insurance and is covered and we have a SURPLUS BUDGET!!!! I will say that again....a SURPLUS BUDGET!!!!

My point is we were running in the red for years and after we installed the Romney Care Universal Healthcare Program which was designed by the best and brightest minds in the WORLD in Insurance, Legal, Medical, Pharmacology....etc....that as long as the same exact program is installed on a Federal Level it will not only provide Universal Healthcare but will also allow us to BALANCE OUR FEDERAL BUDGET as Romney Care was designed to give all people affordable Healthcare and thus put more money in their pockets and thus allow them to spend this money which increased the economy causing an increase in State Tax Revenue thus allowing us to not only balance our budget but actually have a LARGE BUDGET SURPLUS.

Maybe we can petition for a better religions bureau and appeal to that authority.

Do you in California have a "religions bureau" that needs to be made better? Or just talking nonsense again?
