Any headline mentioning Mao should include the fact he slaughtered millions of his own people. Just as the leftist Stalin slaughtered millions of his citizens.

Notice the New York Times has been criticized for its coverage of Stalin and the communists in the former Soviet Union:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...9f28e0-c5c3-11e7-84bc-5e285c7f4512_story.html

The headline could have easily read, "Mao, who slaughtered millions of his own people, died on this day..."

Leaving out context is just as revealing as what is actually written. This would be like a newspaper mentioning OJ Simpson as simply a great running back, leaving out any information about him.

And the NYT omitted any reference to the Islamic radicals.

FFS. Did you need to be told who flew the planes? Did you need to be told that Mao was not a good guy? Is it the fault of the NYT if readers don't already know that?

Please link to proof that "many leftists refuse to condemn his slaughter of millions of his citizens." That sounds like bee ess to me.

That 911 was committed by radical jihadis is hardly a detail. It is the heart of the matter. That Mao devastated China with his totalitarian revolution is not a detail, it is the heart of the matter.

Are you really ignorant about this?

Intersectional or intersectionality refers to the leftist "theory that the overlap of various social identities, as race, gender, sexuality, and class, contributes to the specific type of systemic oppression and discrimination experienced by an individual."

Leftists who are journalists believe this will ignore or downplay facts that could cause someone to criticize these individuals. This is why leftist newspapers will leave race out a description of a robbery or murder suspect.

    Try again, Jake...

Did we need to be told that airplanes flew into the towers? Did we need to be told that Mao was a revolutionary? If the NYT wants to tell the story, it should tell the whole story, and not hide the facts that don't comport with the leftist narrative.

Before the Communists came into power, China was an underdeveloped country ruled by numerous warlords, tribes, and hereditary landlord dynasties. The average lifespan mid 40’s. Illiteracy was common and remote tribes practiced slavery. Some areas of China were so backwards and underdeveloped that people conducted headhunting rituals where they would kill people and put their heads in baskets outside their villages because they believed it would make the crops grow. Women were treated as property and were kept out of education.

I'm not saying Mao was a hero for ending that, I'm just refuting your claim that he brought about the end of some great or idyllic democracy.

Many of our young people were not alive when 9-11 occurred. Most of the U.S. wasn't alive during Mao's slaughter.

The NY Times has already engaged in revising the horrors of communism in the Soviet Union:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...9f28e0-c5c3-11e7-84bc-5e285c7f4512_story.html

Here's leftist sites telling us how wonderful Mao was, there are dozens more if you wish to examine the issue:

No, the heart of the matter being discussed here is that, by assuming you already know who flew the planes, the NYC is somehow guilty of spreading propaganda.

    Pathetic and ridiculous.

Just because you didn't live through it personally, should the NYT assume you have no knowledge? FFS, what are they teaching these days? Or not teaching?

Anyone who doesn't know who flew those planes, or who doesn't know about Mao Zedong, is just too ignorant for words. Making it a conspiracy of the left to leave common knowledge out of their reporting is just stupid. Period.

Before Mao came to power the government was a liberal democracy founded by Sun Yat Sen. It was a nascent democracy, not a great or idyllic democracy, but a democracy none the less. Mao didn't defeat the warlords, the KMT defeated the warlords. Mao defeated the KMT.

"After Sun Yat-sen's death in 1925, China was torn apart even more by rivalry and fighting between local warlords. The Kuomintang was taken over by Chiang Kai-shek. It and the Communists were two of many parties vying for power during a period of upheaval and anarchy that lasted until the Communists took over in 1949. Warlords and their personal armies divided up local ruler. People died from starvation and warfare in the tens of millions.Through years of wars, by the late 1920s or early 1930s, Chiang Kai-shek of the Kuomintang (Nationalists - KMT) eventually managed to defeat separatist warlords and put the whole of China under his centralized authority - largely nominally than in actuality."

You'll have to make a better argument than merely "pathetic and ridiculous."

Why remember 911 at all without remembering those who caused it?

You are making accusations of misleading information without any evidence.

"Pathetic and ridiculous" is not your opponents' problems.

They how do you explain many leftists in the U.S. voicing their admiration for Mao? Or the New York Times doing the same with Stalin? They should be well aware of the horrors those communists committed. Or is it simply an ideology thing with some leftists?

Why do many local newspapers and evening news shows refuse to identify the race of suspects when posting descriptions of suspects wanted for crimes (and this often occurs without a mugshot or photo of the suspect). So yeah, keep your eyes open for a tall, skinny dude wearing a blue shirt.

Why do national news organizations refuse to often identity terrorists as Islamic?

For anyone who doesn't live in an echo chamber it was obvious the NY Times was downplaying the islamist part of 9-11; they've made their ideology obvious to anyone existing outside their leftist bubble...

No evidence exists that "many leftists in the US" voice "admiration for Mao." Some do, yes.

No evidence exists that "many rightists " here in the US chant the praises of Hitler. Some do, yes.

    Stop the propaganda, Medieval Man.

... and just like that, yet another LW Irony Universe BANGS into existence.

As has been successfully and conclusively argued, thoroughly evidenced and deeply documented many times here in many threads and HUNDREDS of fact-filled, utterly unanswered posts over the years, and not ever successfully refuted by the public union know-nothing set or the "racial grievance industry" posters here on PF, the "Southern Strategy" and the "KKK as conservatives not Democrats," other similar LW lie narratives seen near daily here, are themselves the very essence of historical revisionism.

Back to the topic. It's obvious that the NYT whitewashes Mao and Maoism because the very same elite limousine liberals and MSM hacks that sit at the top of the gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex pyramid ARE the SAME PEOPLE who were wearing Mao hats in the late 1960s and early 70s. ARE the same DUMBASSES wearing Che Guevara, Lenin, Marx shirts in the 80s and 90s.

In this context, hey are using the word great in it's original form,
"of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average."
They are stating that Mao's effect on history was very important. They are not saying that the effect he had was good or bad.

The term 'great' applies equally to Washington and his influence in the American War of Independence or Mussolini's role in European and world history.

Nobody on the right chats the praises of the leader of the National Socialist....folks on the right believe in Capitalism, and Conservative principals...in the United States Conservative means a belief in the United States Constitution....not socialist policies that Hitler supported.

Is the China that exists today not far greater than the China that Mao led on the long march???????Not only for it's rise to prominence in the world but also the benefits which have fallen upon it's citizens???

:) 1. The echo chamber is all in your corner, Medieval Man.
    2. When challenged about "many leftists" praising Mao, you come up one supposed Research Center.
    3. I said nothing about universities praising Hitler. I said a few righties.
    4. You have no idea what intersectionality means.

You simply cannot provide the figures that your assertions depend on.

    Please do so.

We have people on this Board at times and elsewhere that praise Hitler: not many, but some. And that is what is happening with Mao and why I tripped up Medieval Man's arguments.

It isn't. One poster here claimed Mao overthrew the Emperor. He did not. That was Sun Yat Sen. Another poster claimed Mao unified the country by defeating the warlords. He did not. Chiang Kai Shek unified the country. What Mao did was win a civil war that replaced an embryonic democracy with a totalitarian Communist regime that brought death and destruction to China.

Now, it is hardly surprising your fellow leftists don't know much about Chinese history. But they think they do. The NYT tweet (which the NYT deleted because of the very objections I and others raise here) is just a small example of how your fellow leftists are misled into the errors displayed here. They are never presented with real history by the NYT and other media but are given a sanitized version that comports with the left-wing narrative. They have been intentionally misled to further the agendas of the left.

I would deem their ****-sure ignorance both pathetic and ridiculous. Wouldn't you?

Really? I haven't seen anyone praise him personally....but certainly some of his policies....such as anti-free market, price controls, Govt over production, institutionalized family planning, national healthcare, institutionalized jobs program, and of course anti-jewish comments
