And folk like you wailed how bad things were under Obama while enjoying the benefits of his saving the auto industry, stopping the free fall towards depression the economy was heading to (Thanks G.W.!), taking out Bin Ladin, and getting millions on health insurance while putting stop gaps on the insurance companies from screwing over their customers.

I'm glad the incredibly enlightened OP and most posters on this thread have taken time to be extra concerned about Obama's vacation and tax money when previous presidents were no different and no complaint was mentioned. Equally amusing is the criticism of his "many" vacations when he doesn't even come close to the number of trips made by the previous administration.

It ISN'T. We can't even start to dig out until Obama is finally GONE. But first, we must get one last, lavish, luxurious Obama extravaganza out of the way -- the LAST one at (overwhelmingly) TAXPAYER expense....

Never expect liberals to undervalue their lavish slavish gratitude on the current president. The model is so clear. The political elite are their Gods. They worship them, they wish them all the luxuries of the world to ensure they don't take away that most important aspect of their lives, their jobs, in government. Sorry, Mrs. Clinton had quite a bit of baggage that Mr. Obama does not have. If Mr. Obama could have run for another
term he simply would have destroyed Mr. Trump. If Mr. Trump would have even have showed up for the 1st debate, he would
not have returned for any more.

I'm going to doubt that you will bother bringing up the fact that air space restrictions are typical during presidential travel.

Are you going to complain as much when Trump shuts down New York airspace while his wife stays in Trump Tower or whenever he goes off on a jaunt somewhere. How about when he starts taking mysterious trips to Russia to meet with Putin behind closed doors?

Remember that that's just for security for Trump Tower which is over and above the standard protection costs during travel and while the president is at home with his family in the White House... oh that's right, Trump and his wifey are going to be estranged for an indefinite amount of time effectively doubling the same security costs that the right-wingers are now complaining about.

For some reason the thought of the secret service guarding trump tower sounds more legitimate than guarding a bath house in Hawaii.

 

Well If Clinton and the Democrats hadn't closed down so many military air bases during BRAC ll and BRAC lll, Trump could have done what other Republican Presidents did, used military airfields instead of commercial airports disrupting tens of thousands of Americans daily routines that the Clinton's and the Obama's do every time they travel outside of the White House.

Reagan always used March AFB or Point Mugu NAS while Nixon always used MCAS El Toro.

Nixon went further by making sure that military training wasn't disrupted at Camp Pendleton when Nixon was at the Summer White House since his residence was butted up next to the north end of Camp Pendleton. Marine helicopters and jet fighters still flew where as last year on Obama's Christmas vacation in Hawaii led to the death of 12 Marines and the lost of two $90 million dollar CH-53 helicopters. And Obama didn't even appoligize to the 12 Marines family members that his vacation killed 12 Marines.

Why was it that President Clinton's daughter Chelsea and Bush's daughters only got one Secret Service car while both of Obama's daughters get a five car Secret Service motorcade where ever they go ?

And what's with Michelle Obama's Secret Service motorcade ??? If I were VP Biden I would have been demanding an upgrade from his current 17 car Secret Service motorcade.

 

Whether it was Reagan, Bush, Obama or any other president, Secret Service protection is a necessity. that would negate that cost as a given, yet protecting Obama for his outings in Hawaii, became a difficult and expensive proposition in logistics. Tell me that is not correct.

 

Is there anything he can't do as president in Hawaii that he can do in Washington? This question is coming from a republican. I've never seen presidential vacations and golf outings as a big deal because in fairness the job of the presidency follows them wherever they go.

There's one exception to my point and that's when it comes to appearances. President Obama was known to be on the golf course at times when it provided really bad optics because of other events going on at the time.

In this particular case having Obama in Hawaii on vacation while Trump is working hard preparing his presidency in an optic that'll look good for president elect Trump.
