the government doesn't shut down if there is no budget. IIRC, the right has constantly criticized the lack of a budget for the past 4 or 5 years, heaping blame and excoriation of Obama because of it.

Now if the gop attempts yet again to add riders to the continuing funding resolution, then by not having an unconditional resolution they are in fact forcing Obama to block the establishing precedent that the continuing operations of the government can be held for partisan ransom. Exactly the same story that led to the last shutdown. Einstein's definition sure had it pegged.

I'd call it someone who is not up to speed on the whole issue, but that's just me. See, being here illegally is not always a criminal act, and even when that residence results from a crime, it's a misdemeanor, hardly the stuff of hard core criminals. Next, the "criminals" as you call them, are not forgiven at all if they have committed a crime and they are still liable to be deported by this president or any succeeding one. I don't know what you mean by "access to social services" since they are not eligible for many benefits, such as food stamps, Medicaid and similar type programs.

 

When did a misdemeanor become 'not a crime'.........their kids are eligible for food stamps and they eat at the same table. When they go to the hospital who pays? Who pays for the ESL teachers for their kids that don't learn English. The answer is me.......and I'm friggin' tired of paying for all this crap.

And there you go again, the government didn't shut down because continuing resolutions were passed which kept the previous budgets going, it was not a "there was no budget" in place.

That is SOP, it is Obama who was trying to set precedent that legislation must be clean with no amendments and he did so to force a shutdown which he did.

What we have now is the hypocracy of the left. When the Democrats controlled two of the three legs on the stool of power their position was that since they had that majority control their budget should prevail and if the Republican minority position did not agree they were the ones shutting down government, now that it is reversed and the Republicans have majority power and pass their budget and the minority party doesn't agree then it is again the Republicans shutting down government. I would have thought with your political awareness you would have caught on to this.

The fact is it is the Republicans who have always been willing to negotiate, to go to reconciliation and/or the WH to negotiate with Democrats. It is the Democrats and particularly Obama who refused telling them that elections had consequences and the Democrats won. Well they didn't last election did they.

 

Fine. Without again discussing "what the meaning of the word is is" let's assume unlawful presence is the lesser of two evils.
