hahaha yes! Obama doesnt want to ban guns...he simply wants to ban certain guns! Come on guys this is a common sense compromise! You dont need that 30 round magazine to hunt a squirrel! Use a 10 round mag! Unless you are in NY, then only a 7 round mag is acceptable. We dont want to ban guns...you are crazy....we only want to ban every single part that makes guns function properly and then make the laws so impossible to follow that every gun you have is illegal. How dare you even want to have an illegal gun.

Meanwhile my guns are sitting in the closet in their cases not killing anyone while Obama works hard (and then takes another taxpayer funded vacation) to tell me what behavior is acceptable for me while he is surrounded by bodyguards with machine guns.

I can see that you do not care, and this is the problem. You do not care that a law-abiding citizen who lends his brother a firearm to go hunting should be considered a felon and go to jail. You do not care that a law-abiding citizen who stores his guns in his parents' house when he goes on a 2-week vacation should also be considered a felon and go to jail (along with his parents). Yes, it is overwhelmingly clear that you lack empathy.

I find it comical that people (usually liberals) want to legalize marijuana because we unfairly imprison so many people unnecessarily for minor drug-related crimes, such as possession or use in public (and I agree with this sentiment). Yet, when it comes to guns, the same people see no clash of reasoning in wanting to make a felony of out someone leaving his guns with his parents when going on a vacation or two lifelong friends borrowing one another's guns when going on hunting trips.

Yes, and, as you described, the term "assault rifle" has historically referred to a fully-automatic rifle. Today this meaning has been perverted by anti-gun zealots to mean any gun that they do not like at the moment. The use of the term "assault rifle" currently is usually in reference to a semi-automatic rifle with features that anti-gun people deem "scary," such as a barrel shroud, bayonet lug, flash suppressor, folding stock, and pistol grip. None of these "scary" features make the gun more lethal, and this is why the term "assault weapon" today is nothing more than a dysphemism. Thus, the statement I made in my prior post, which you quoted above, was accurate.
