Every time you try to paint all illegal immigrants using the brush provided by a single incident, you harden the resolve of people who believe your position is wrong. You do damage to your own cause by attempting to promote it through the use of logical fallacies.

When people see you using fallacious fear mongering to promote your views, they assume that your position is void of merit. After all, if your position could stand on its own merits you wouldn’t need to engage in fear mongering.

Not all illegal aliens are murderers

Some are rapists,

Some are chronic drunk drivers who often hit and run away

Some steal

And some or perhaps most are honest and hardworking

But they are all here illegally and should be deported

 

So we should use White American crime rate as a baseline to measure all groups against ? Ok but why would the crime rate of White Americans be a good thing to measure against?

It would seem that measuring a group's crime rate against the total population of criminals would be the most logical approach.

Do we even know how many illegals are here? Or do we know how many ilegals committed a crime?

 

I’m more interested in post #1. It was made with an implied “see? They are dangerous!”. Adding everything you said after the fact doesn’t erase the original intent of this thread or the damage it did to your position.

I happen to agree that illegal immigrants should be dealt with somehow. I think building a wall and just deciding to somehow deport them all using ICE and working on a one by one basis is either never going to work or will take decades to work. I would like a better solution. I also believe that some illegals may be deserving of a chance at citizenship without deportation.

We may have differences on the method, but we are essentially on the same side of this issue. Except I am hesitant to ever admit that because I don’t want to be associated with people who promote their view using fear mongering, regardless of the fact that they jump in 73 posts later to add disclaimers.

Illegal aliens commit crimes on a daily basis. It is a crime they are in the country. If they have jobs, that is a crime. If they used fake ID's etc. to get those jobs, that is Federal crime classified as a felony.

So, try to pick some actual facts, instead of echoing this BS statistic about crime rates.

Do we have the resources, can we identify all ilegals so that can deport them? If we attempt to what are the unintended consequences? We do not know. Will the cure of rooting out ilegals be worse than harm they cause?

We need to stop ilegals from coming in but I do not believe that the "Trump wall" will do that.

Again, careful with which aspects of your argument you decide to hyperfocus on. It makes it sound as if you only have a problem will illegal aliens because they are illegal. To me that says that the fastest way to resolve this situation to your satisfaction would be to make undocumented immigration into the US legal.

Wrong with free market capitalism? No, just a fact. If leftists want wages to rise, a good way to help with that would be to rid the country of the illegal workforce that is keeping wages low. A side benefit would be that there would be less crime in the country also.
