One person dead in shooting at protest in Downtown Austin

Looks to me like in that photo someone got, he has his elbow up in the air. The butt of his rifle is casting a shadow on his face, so it seems he is unstrapping the rifle to shoot. By the time he did that, he may no have been as close to the driver of the car as he is in the photo.

Anyway, right now, everyone is just guessing what happened....including me. Waiting to see what the police say.

 

Sounded like 5 shots from a large caliber followed by 3 shots from a 9mm

Moral of the story: Fake liberal tough guy met actual tough law abiding citizen and the results were predictable.

 

That interview went on where he claimed (paraphrasing here) that people opposed to his side were ******* who wouldn't do anything. Not a great last public statement considering how he died.

 

Lots of speculation going on in every direction, but some folks said the person in the car circled the block a few times. The insinuation is that they were specifically looking for the guy.

 

The problem wasn't the car, it was the BLM shooting at the car. I work just a few blocks from there and me and my car were in the area when it happened last night. Was I looking for trouble? Putting my shoes on to go back at this very moment.

I have circled the area in the past, looking for parking. But I guess he just HAD to be hunting someone huh?

I have no idea what happened. Neither does anyone else right now. My posts are just passing on different theories I've seen today....mainly Tweets from all different points of view from people replying to the Austin Police account.

I actually looked at their website and the only statement that I could even interpret as hinting about of government is that they say they believe in a family village concept. Now to call that overthrow of capitalism or government you would have to stretch that policy have out to the Orion star system.

They do say that they love them some LGBTQXYZ Types .

Where are the references to Marxism that some people claim. Did I miss it?

Well, so much for that whole "non-combatant" ruse they've been pulling with the "medics" and "press".

 

You're on the grounds there in Texas, you know when's the latest the police report would come out or what's come out so far from official sources?

 

I've just had a tab open for Austin Police Dept Twitter open all day. I figure the Police Chief will make a statement as soon as....well??? I don't know how long. I guess it depends if the guy in custody is cooperating, and how many on-the-scene witnesses they decide to interview. It could take a few days, I suppose.

 

There is another video from someone who was at the red light just as the marchers were coming to the intersection. It shows the guy in the black car turn the corner directly into the oncoming protesters. You see protesters running to the car, then away after the shots were fired. Then you see the black car drive away from the scene.

• Police Chief Manley statement just out...

 

I thought I heard a large caliber shot immediately after the 3 pistol shots. Could have been an echo.

 

So...according to the police:

The man in the car who shot Foster claims that the protesters started hitting his car, and that Foster "may have" pointed his rifle at the still un-named shooter.

The man in the car fired at Foster and drove away. He then called police and told them that he was involved in a shooting and he waited for police.

They took his car and gun, and he was questioned by police homicide and released.

Meanwhile, witness testimonies varied, but one witness said that as the man in the car was driving away, he [the witness] pulled his gun out at fired 3 shots at the car.

He was also taken to headquarters, questioned by police homicide and released.

Both men had legal concealed carry licenses.

Investigation is still ongoing. There is no statement that Foster directly pointed his rifle at the man in the car, which is the claim of the shooter. Witnesses may be contradicting that statement, so the police chief says that Foster "may" have pointed his rifle at the shooter.

 

Could have an involuntary trigger squeeze Of the AK as the liberal was falling to the ground after 3 shots center mass.

 

APD says the first shots came from inside the car. He says a rifle was pointed at him first, but this hasn't been confirmed. The only "shooting at the car" occurred after the driver began shooting.

 

We know what happened. Garrett Foster opened fire on a vehicle, vehicle returns fire. Garrett is not here any more. Bue Garrett.

 

According to APD, you appear to have this backward. Current reporting is that the first shots came from the driver.

 

So you don't believe the Police Chief? I have a lot of respect for Manley, especially after he caught that serial bomber so quickly a few years ago.

 

The survivor of the shootout has indeed been cooperating with police. Not sure how you missed it. I'm 6 blocks from the area right now.
