Biography
Sand was born in Linz, Austria, to Polish Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. His parents had Communistand anti-imperialist views and refused to accept compensation from Germany for their suffering during the Second World War. Sand spent his first two years in a displaced-persons camp near Munich, and moved with the family to Jaffa in 1948. He was expelled from high school at the age of sixteen. According to one interview, “Sand spent the late 1960s and early 1970s working a series of odd jobs, including several years as a telephone lineman.” He completed his high-school work at age 25 and spent three years in the military. The Six Day War, in which he served, “pushed him towards the radical left.” Quitting the Union of Israeli Communist Youth (Banki), he joined the more radical, and anti-Zionist, Matzpen in 1968. He resigned from Matzpen in 1970 due to his disillusionment with the organisation.

In 2013, Sand published a book entitled How I Ceased to Be a Jew. The book examines the question of Jewish identity and the distinction between being a Jew and being Israeli. It also examines the identity of Israel, with a focus on the country's relationship, as a “Jewish state,” to Jews around the world and to its non-Jewish citizens.

To me he placed himself in a category of 'Intellectual Morons', rebellious in anyway and willing to deny his coreligionist the base they stand on just for the sake of promoting his hate in a book that does not sell and used by the opposition to throw darts at the Jews.

Not really - he "ceased" to be a Jew as defined by social convention.

Look closely and you will see that his philosophy (all written in Hebrew, by the way with books that are Best Sellers in Israel) actually represents true Judaism through his outlook and actions. Therefore, Marlowe is correct = Sand is a Jew.

If you read the link you would have seen that Sand's words and teachings are proofs that he is a real Jew. A Jew in that he wants peace and reconciliation, Tikkun Olam, and an end to the type of racial chauvinist politics that stifle others. This to Sand, and to the commentator, are supposed to be hallmarks of TRUE Judaism.

Therefore, contrary to your views and that of the others on this thread, Marlowe was correct.

No matter what they do, or how much they reject judiaism, there are those that will never accept a jew's rejection.

The barbarities that Israel are known for do NOT constitute true Judaism which should always be characterized by beneficence, brethrenship, and piety.
Sand's writings (which again were in HEBREW) were intended to denounce rabid ethnic/racial chauvinism which are anti-Jewish. When he wrote "I am no longer a 'Jew' " he was saying he is denouncing this chauvinism and doing his best to be a true Jew by advocating and practicing a life of which reflects true Jewish character.

Therefore, while Jonsa & HBendor are wrong, Marlowe is 100% correct.

 

So if one twists enough so that the head meets the rectum "I am no longer a Jew" means " I' m so damm Jewish I could just soil my panties!"

Actually, he was an uninformed and thoughtless Jew who never read the Bible comprehensively.
The result was that the Holocaust came as a shock to his misled concept of Judaism and his relationship with God:

If the God of Israel was a living God why did we have to suffer all these years? Why the Inquisition, the Holocaust and the rest of hateful people making our lives a burden?

 

All that has happened is a consequence of "Palestinians" starting a failed war a few times which has force Israel to expand into positions that became necessary for its defense.

America has done a si ilar thing in East asia by making certain places "Protectorates" after the WWII attack by Japan.
Countries tend to do these things when wars occur.
But the PLO and Hamas have made specific claims against the acceptance of the state of Israel and vowed to destroy it sooner or later.

What seems to make sense to me is that Israel ought refuse a State of PLO, attack this constant and unending enemy right now, and close the issue with borders and positionm that can be protected thereafter.
To accomplish this, they need either American Bunker Bombs or the use of their own A-bombs to level the Iranian sites that threaten nukes.
