Another leftist professor losing their mind on Facebook again. This one obtained her just desserts rather quickly thankfully. These people are supposedly educating our children. An adjunct professor at the University of Delaware is under fire for posting on Facebook that Otto Warmbier, an American taken into custody in North Korea who later ended up in a coma and died, “got exactly what he deserved.” “These are the same kids who cry about their grades because they didn’t think they’d really have to read and study the material to get a good grade,” Dettwyler wrote. “His parents ultimately are to blame for his growing up thinking he could get away with whatever he wanted. Maybe in the US, where young, white, rich, clueless white males routinely get away with raping women. Not so much in North Korea. And of course, it’s Ottos’ parents who will pay the price for the rest of their lives.” http://www.philly.com/philly/educat...mbier-after-his-death-20170626.html?mobi=true
I doubt that seriously. This ****ing cry baby was ready to say whatever they wanted, after about 5 minutes of being in custody. He was tortured for pleasure, not information or confessions. I look forward to the day we dig this dictator out of a hole in someone's yard, so his people can publicly execute him.
We are assuming Warmbier's life support was cut off a month after he was returned to the US because it was realized he was essentially brain dead already.
No indication from any news I could find that he was on life support at all let alone removed from it? His conditions technical term was " unresponsive wakefulness" aka a vegetative state. The family was advised 14 months ago he was in a coma. He returned home in a well nourished condition ... Which means someone was feeding him and giving him fluids in NK for over a year. I think it's most likely he had an infection, that required maintenance via antibiotics and NK was supplying it. The family and doctors are mum about it so that makes sense after they were told he had no chance at a recovery due to extent of his brain damage and time passed in the coma. To just withhold the antibiotics and let him pass peacefully. Hence the near silence from the family and docs. Tragic isn't even the word. Yikes.
What is the evidence of torture? While there is no excuse nor any justification for torture, I marvel (no, not really) how right wingers are enraged over this alleged torture but were not similarly inclined during the Abu Ghraib discussions.
He came back in a coma caused by head trauma. I doubt he slipped in the shower, given the dictator that was holding him. My point, is that the notion you would need to torture Otto Warmbier, to get a confession is flat ridiculous, given he is famous for his embarrassing in court crying.
Head trauma is not evidence of torture. As an example, I suffer from seizures and fainting spells and have taken several falls as a consequence. However, x-rays and other markings can be proof of torture. Hopefully, we will soon learn what the problem really was.
I understand the family refused to have an autopsy performed. Maybe it is they who are the ones trying to hide something. If so, then it is wrong to accuse NK of torture without any evidence to support the claim.
What purpose would be served by an autopsy? It's not like Best Korea would then come forward and apologize or whatever.
I do agree that seems a bit strange. If I were the family, I would want the autopsy to better have a chance to find out what really happened.
Because I have a brain and they never do anything moral or just, virtually ever. This is a man who is sleeping in different places at night because he fears "roving beheading squads of Americans". He isn't right in the head, and he isn't about to apologize. I mean, they don't even admit this kid left in a coma. They claim he left in perfect health. These are not honest people, and their leader is insane. Why cut up this poor kids body, to prove something so obvious: that he died from head trauma, most likely from torture?
That does not constitute proof in this case. Not honest and insane? That would mean that Bush and his cabal at Abu Ghraib should be institutionalized. Let's have an autopsy to settle the issue once and for all.
That's not up you and me. We have ZERO say in that. That decision was made by his family. But, what does it matter? They will never apologize, they will take no different course of action, regardless of that the autopsy says. Nobody that matters believes that little dictator over us. What we decide to do to them, will be revealed in time, whatever that is. As sad as this is, at the end of the day, it's one life lost. The problems with North Korea involve millions of lives. We will never allow them to build a missile that can reach our shores. We know they have intentions to use nuclear weapons, unlike other nations that use them as a deterrent. The world will never let that happen; as usual, they are just waiting for the US to lead the way.
You are correct that the autopsy matter is for the family to decide and not for anyone else. Ditto for NK. Their politics is their business, not ours.
