many have cells nowadays, not sure who called the cops, may of been a teen that was there

if they felt things were getting out of hand and could turn violent, calling the police is the appropriate thing to do, just in this case the police did not act appropriately when they got there

Have a conversation with them, calm the situation, explain why. Of course that may not work, but it is preferable to calling the cops and have them make it worse.

What makes them a "bad cop?" Not being taught to respect them to begin with and agitating them. That'll always give you a negative side of police. Kids are being brainwashed by their cop hating parents that hated cops in the 90's. That's why people are afraid of police, and recent events are why police are ever so jumpy. Now would be the worst time to disrespect them.

Lots of democrats reach out to these areas to garner the black vote. I guess it's only racist when white people, or righties do it.

Yeah and the witnesses said they say Michael Brown with his hands raised and was shot in the back.

But this doesn't matter a twit, what matters is what happened AFTER the police arrived and the refusal to comply with their lawful orders as they tried to sort things out and perhaps had it been peacefully done they could have determined if any white people had broken the law and if the blacks there had permission to use the facilities. Instead we got a disrespectful and violent mob.

What don't you understand that when a uniformed police officer is instructing persons to remain on the ground and are issuing lawful orders to stop a riot you don't get in their face, you don't scream at them and interfere in their carrying out their lawful duty.

I do think that cop will not be working there soon. Even if he gets off completely he will NEVER live down that barrel roll.

And, yes, I can easily believe that is something you possibly should do if you're running hard and stumble to avoid serious injury and it might have even shown reflexive good training; doesn't matter, still looks about as ridiculous as you can. I can't help but think the poor guy had just seen his career go rolling away and was in "what the hell" mode from that point on.

Seriously, the cop lost control of himself and THAT was what caused the situation to escalate. Cops are trained to be scrupulously polite even in difficult situations and with recalcitrant people because it is important to let people know you are simply doing your job and not disrespecting them as people, even though you are ordering them about and possibly manhandling them. You particularly don't go saying (*)(*)(*)(*) this and (*)(*)(*)(*) that right off in a crowd of people. It's very much like the old public speaker's maxim. Profanity always insults and offends your audience. Believe that, as even if they applaud it they have just lost respect for you, because you disrespected them

I think the problem is that so many bad cops have ruined it for the rest of them. People don't have a blanket respect for the badge anymore because of the fact that many cops get away with criminal acts. Now believe me when I say that I respect those who decide to be cops, but when problem cops aren't hung out to dry like they should be, then it becomes harder to respect the office rather then the officers.

Trust is an accord between officer and civilian, and when the civilians see some cops being held above the law, then that trust is broken.

Personally I'm of the type to just sit down and deal with the situation (filming of course) respectfully, and save my arguments for the judge/prosecutor, but not everyone thinks like me.

once again the bad cop defenders are trying to deflect.... it doesn't matter what the teens were doing good or bad, that doesn't excuse what the cop was doing which was bad...

an out of control cop doesn't help the situation at all, this is why we need cop cams with 3rd party independent review, weed out the bad cops, so we are left with good cops worthy of wearing the badge

the cops had a violent explosive situation to tend to they were out numbered. that cop repeatedly told that girl to leave he told her repeatedly to sit on the ground but instead she wanted to argue so he put his hands on her to force her to comply she resisted so he took her down
so what should he have done ignored her let her continue to interfere with them trying to disperse and defuse a mob

Breeding isn't restricted to bad people. Everyone breeds. People were still butt-holes in the past, and Cops had less to worry about with the lack of cameras to expose rights violations.

Maybe this was always like this, but now that we can film it, Cops have to actually follow the law.

Right, because the cop was racist, right?

How come you ignored my request for your evidence of racism?

Because you made an ignorant assumption, that's why.

    Prove racist intent.

You realize there's a handful of White Millenials, right? And while many of us have believed in the multicultural world, that world is starting to look more and more fictionous to us, with each passing event.

If this IS the case then why didn't the police send more cops. One thing heard on the tape that surprised me was one cop saying "there's just three of us here" If that was so why didn't they call for more cops and then WAIT? not just hot dog right in. I didn't see any ongoing fights or other things and even if there were what could three cops do?

I've always been told that one tactic of police going right back to Peel's coppers in London was to use tactics that concentrated overwhelming force quickly in one area. All the problems I've seen recently seem to be coming from cops acting largely on their own.

Police all over also need to have better tactics to deal with flash mobs and other social media based crime

When you don't comply with an officer they make you comply. It does not matter if they were their legally or not, I've been cuffed for nothing other than being at the wrong place at the wrong time. If I had acted the way these kids did the cops in my town would have beat the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of me and I'm white. The parents of these children failed to teach them respect or at least fear the cops. Should the cop have pulled his gun, well that's debatable but it did have the desired effect.

Because they know it isn't racist, they are just marking to their rulers orders. It's funny because when I was growing up I was taught to respect the police or you'll get your ass kicked. Today kids seem to think they don't have to respect cops or follow their orders which leads to an ass whooping.

Desired effect? I'm guessing being suspended without pay pending termination and attracting a fire storm to the department wasn't exactly the effect he was expecting.
