You say personal responsibility, but blame a group of people? Now that doesn't make much sense. How can a group of people have personal responsibility? It's literally a contradiction of terms.

Now let's think about this from another perspective. Why are you talking to me in English right now? Why do you have access to the internet? Why do you know how to deal with COVID19? In what stage of the process did you have personal responsibility? The government official chose the language you would speak, how much access to internet is and how good it is, and it is because you listened to someone else you know of COVID19. Your 'personal responsibility' may reflect your actions yes, but it fails to explain why you took those actions. It would be like saying I took personal responsibility to move my character according to the dice and I followed the rules of the game to determine which dice to roll. You don't take personal responsibility, you play the rules of the game. And if the game privileges certain people over others, then the society is sick and needs to be cured.

Think about this another way, is it charitable to say that people want to get their family members and friends sick by ignoring quarantine? No. Why would anyone want to deal with the medical bills and potential death? So we have to think of other reasons why this is the case.

 

Why are you speaking to me in English? Why do you have access to the internet? How did you know what rules to follow? Never discount the stepping stones in place to get you where you are today. You speak English because of education policy. You have internet because of policy between the government and businesses. You know how to react to COVID19 because you combined those two together to have a reliable stream of information in a language you can speak. Now the question is why doesn't everyone has the same stepping stones you have. Society took care of you when you were learning, getting an internet connection, and now it is time to pay the piper.

 

Did society give me a house? Does it give me food? Does it put cloths on my back? Does it put money in my pocket? Does it provide me a car? I spoke English because that is what my parents taught me to speak. I provided for myself and my family. I take care of myself and my family. Does society have to come to my house and watch and make sure I follow social distancing? Does society have to come to my house and make sure I wear a mask when I go out? Does society have to come and wash my hands for me?

What does that have to do with black communities and their own behaviors bringing about the higher incidences of COVID and not the mere color of their skin?

 

"Reasons"? Selfishness and ignorance. Those are the reasons. And since the information is available in about a billion different formats, any ignorance is willful. So that leaves us primarily facing selfishness.

Some people are incredibly selfish. They don't care who they might infect, they don't care how they might be spreading the disease, and they don't have any respect for quarantine or social distancing or any of the other preventative measures which have been touted ad nauseum. Is it "charitable" to admit that? Who cares. Is it truthful? Yes.

The ONLY reason Black people might be contracting at a higher rate is due to social behavior and where the majority might be living that are getting hit the hardest. If someone can figure out a chemical reason I’d love to hear that theory.

This isn’t PC but as a group, African Americans might not be the best examples of listening to authority. It’s not racial that they get into more altercations with police per capita. Stats are stats. There’s a reason single parent homes dominate the community. It’s ALL behavior and lifestyle. How many times are we ALL told, use birth control, wait until marriage to have kids, don’t steal, don’t murder, stay in school, ect. Yet per capita, one group is disproportionately on the wrong end of these scales and it’s sad.

So is it that surprising they might get hit harder? It’s not if you really think about it.

2/3 of the reported deaths are male and yet not a peep lol... Just on average a black females life expectancy is higher than a white male so maybe just maybe that's the pattern we outta analyze if we're looking for societal implications.........

If you had your way, you would not allow people the weapons to defend themselves...which would result in their deaths.

I saw post 64, and that doesn’t really say much about your beliefs around the 2nd amendment, so based on my memory of your posts my assumptions still stand.

If you wish to clarify your position on the 2nd amendmnent in detail, perhaps with some specifics around home defense, then perhaps ill reconsider.
