people very often fail to see their own faults

as for me, I would rather die and go to Hell than betray [IMG] like those southern traitors did and still do

While I agree that the Friday statement was 100% bungled, I think the Saturday presser was handled far better than people are giving him credit for... He set the record straight from the Friday idiocy. I really like the way he handled a press corps most of which he knew and called on by name.... they were tough questions, but fair.

I still think there's some difference between getting in costume, including makeup, to perform in a dance contest imitating somebody famous and generally getting in "blackface". It may sound horrible and racist today, but I doubt it was considered either in 1984. A little weird perhaps, but he says he won the contest so go figure....

I highly doubt he was going to moonwalk, but it would have been a classic moment... and a human one... He has (had?) a skill and wanted to show off a bit. Glad he didn't though.

I still think there are people who survive in politics doing worse stuff than this guy has done (and you KNOW who I'm referring to). I'm personally disgusted at the line of Dems cutting him loose on this fragmentary evidence.... Not surprised to see that gasbag Gillibrand up there again.... I'll be so glad when she's eliminated from contention....

Can I guess by your screen name you are from Virginia??

From what I read, he ran on an anti slavery campaign.
And the election sealed if for the south. They felt the need to secede, to keep slaves.
Secession was in most every states secession papers.

All systems are a battle between the haves and the have nots imo it’s just finding a system that sucks least I guess. Not a fan of the fact that a lot of rich people come from old money.

Yes your right that he did run of anti slavery, for some reason I have it in my head that the actual election had some quirky stuff going on.

I agree that it seems silly to shelf someone for this, it’s the precedent that’s been set it seems. I agree there’s probably quite a few politicians who are sweating bullets due to recent events. As far as my username no I’m not from Virginia, I grew up with a civil war buff father going to most battlefields and I find Tuner Ashby an intriguing figure

Bill even campaigned on this one it seems.

It's way to funny to see a thread about McConnell in a photo in front of the confederate flag.

Which you know isn't true. Its a complete fabrication. Each person was named and the link to what they did or said was quoted.

It was never "all over the place" if you know how to read

    I already have.

Your excuses are beyond pathetic. Each person was named and the link to what they did or said was quoted.

Here is the list again. Try not to run away this time.

Keith Ellison. Now he's a twofer. Both an anti semite and anti white racist

Keith Elison Gregory Meeks Andre Carson

All met and praised Louis Farrakhan leader of the largest organization of anti white and anti jewish organizations in the country.

Maxine Waters and the other racists in the Congressional Black Caucus attended an anti white racist speech by Farakhan and praised him. He said:

“White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled the cover off of that Satanic Jew and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.”

Exactly the same order as the original posts with all the original links. Now, what excuse are you going to come up with this time for not denouncing this racism from each of these Democrats?

yep, and not wadding through that mess, as I said, I denounce the racism regardless of the race of the racist - so if there is any racism in what you posted, I denounce it

none of the names sound familiar to me in your post.... if they honestly were promoting racism against Jews as you say, I denounce that... of course

that said, just disagreeing with Israel or a Jewish person is not anti-semitic in itself - people can disagree with Christians, Muslims and Jews... discrimination or threatening harm is a different mater, that is where it becomes wrong

Trump is America first... and said people that chant "blood and soil, jews will not replace us" were fine people... .do you denounce that - I do

"“White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled the cover off of that Satanic Jew and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.”"

if she really said that, of course I denounce it....

now, do you denounce racism regardless of the race of the racist?

What a shocker. You went back on your word just as I knew you would.

Next time don't pretend you are against racism in your own party if you can't even denounce it in front of you.

Yeah you must be confused.....as no one said anything about that issue being a cause of a civil war. But thanks for validating that reading comprehension problem leftists have.

    @guavaball @ChoppedLiver

It is your word vs the words of the Confederates. History wins. You can dance around the facts all you want, but they won't stop being facts. You should really ask yourself why the Confederates themselves explicitly stated that the cause was slavery. Or maybe ask yourself why the primary name they had for themselves during secession and before was "the slaveholding states." You could have read the articles of secession or the Cornerstone Speech, as I suggested, but Confederate apologists tend to flee from the argument any time actual history comes up.

Here you are, though I don't expect any real response at this point. At least I can bookmark this the next time another Confederate revisionist comes along so that I don't end up looking all of this up every time.

I did no such thing, you did not post the name and the exact thing you wanted me to denounce and a link like I asked, the one place you added a real quote, I replied - I am not gonna spend a hour decipering your post and replying, thus my denouncing any racism or antisemitism you posted in one swoop

let me give you an example
    -------------------------------------------------------
Ray Nagin : "It's time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans. And I don't care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day."

    http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/17/nagin.city/
    -------------------------------------------------------

to that I can easily denounce as racist... person, quote, link to quote

that is as racist as a white man saying he wants a city to be vanilla

now, you still refuse to denounce white racists that are racist against blacks, why? I denounce black racists and Anti-Semites.... it was easy, why so hard for you?

oh, so in your eyes, the American flag doesn't represent blacks as no black stripes in it? that is a silly argument against the rainbow flag

the rainbow flag is the color of the rainbow.....

Clearly, american society, some of it, has gone bonkers. Insane. Crazy. Loony tunes.

No redemption anymore from the folly and stupidity of youth. This does not end well, IMO.
