But of course we know for a fact the great flood never happened, you can believe it did all you want, same as people used to believe the world was flat, ect... but it still wont make it true

I think in the future more and more people will realize they can believe in God, without believing in the myths

I, in all honesty, have just one question that interests me.

Do you have any evidence of God's existence which would stand up to scientific scrutiny and peer review?

Sure Margot, that would be the logical explanation but why did they say that God instructed these laws ?

Not that you asked me but the logic would be that if the laws come from god they have a lot more power than if some guy made them up.

King Josiah was the new King David and he was on a mission to reunite Israel and Judah.. His reforms including mandating that worship and sacrifice could only be done at the Temple in Jerusalem.. He also destroyed all the altars and shrines in "high places".. He also forbid the worship of Ashera and other household gods.. Worship was ONLY for God the Creator.

It was a political move to capture Israel's former "greatness".. rather than remaining a vassal state of Egypt or Assyria. To accomplish his goals he used the "second law".. Deuteronomy.. with some rewrite by Ezra the scribe.

Not a bad plan.. except he was summoned to Egypt and was killed there.

All this took plac 900 years after the death of Moses.

How exactly do you see justice in a command to murder every man, woman, and child in a city save for the virginal girls who are to be taken as sex slaves?

Just use the same psychology as a battered wife making excuses, or one with Stockholm syndrome.

Clearly it's so obvious you haven't read the book of Job in the Holy Bible, otherwise you wouldn't rush to judgment, if you truly understood the message of that Scripture in the bible concerning the life of Job. Such a viewpoint brings dishonor to the character of God. Be assured God does not play games with the lives of men. God does not entertain or pleasure the devil. God does not have bets with him.

Below is a summary of the story of Job provided by the NLT:

The problem of human suffering is pondered by most everyone at some time or another. The book of Job in the Holy Bible addresses this ancient and difficult problem. It tells the story of Job, a godly man who endured enormous amount of suffering while remaining faithful to God.

The story begins with Job losing his children, his many possessions, and even his own health---all within a very short period of time. Only Job's wife escaped the ruin that satan inflicted upon him. Then Job's three friends came to comfort him and to reflect on the purpose of his suffering. They each considered the basic question: Why must we endure suffering when God is powerful enough to do something about it? Job's wife simply declared it all unfair, advising Job, "Curse God and die" (2:9).

Each of Job's three friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, delivered speeches accounting for Job's misery. A young man, Elihu, tried to summarize the situation with yet another explanation. But all of them failed to provide Job with a satisfactory answer.

Finally, God Himself spoke directly to Job, asking him a long list of questions that forced him to recognize his finite understanding of life. Job realized that ultimately God is in charge and knows what He is doing. So Job remained silent and stood in awe of God's sovereignty. In the end, God restored Job's health, possessions, and family.

So then God allows satan to do whatever?

Is satan more powerful than God?

Or does satan have to ask for permission?

    Please, continue digging your hole.

Please elaborate more clearly because in my view your question is incomprehesible. I guess what you mean by a "thought crime (denying God)" is to not believe in God...right? But I just don't understand what you mean by a punishment being greater than another? Do you mean to say, "a sin greater than another sin?

Anyway I can tell you that rejecting/not believing in God is an unpardonable sin, according to the Scriptures, it is the worst sin, because other sins are pardonable, if you ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord Savior, God will forgive your sins.
