The very soul of MAGA is that the country isn't as good as it could be - why do you hate your country?

Lets see, we will make America great by having the President tell four citizens who are members of the US Congress to leave the country and go back to where their families came from and then when they respond to that message demand they apologize to him and the American people. I think this should nullify any claims he and his people might have about the President being "hated." As ye sow so shall ye reap. Galatians 6:7

AFTER they came under extraordinary scrutiny by right wing talk show and blogs. Look back at the press - it started with right wing attacks.

The Bigot-in-Chief elevated them to celebrity status with his bigoted idiocy.

-Perhaps his tweet was a mistake politically because he should have let the Democrats continue with their circular firing squad. With that being said, I think that you are grossly overstating the magnitude of that mistake. He impacted the news cycle for the day or perhaps the week, but there is no way that their feud is/was going to continue into the election year. We all have a tendency to think that today's news is going to be the difference maker in a far off election, while in truth, today's news rarely lasts for more than a few days or weeks. The AOC/Pelosi feud is a perfect example of such.

    - To imply that Trump does not possess political skills seems illogical to me. Please tell me what Republican that you are picturing when you mention a politician with political skills? I will give you Ronald Reagan, but I am not so sure that there is one high profile Republican since the 80's that I admire for their political skills. As time has progressed over the decades, the mainstream news has become increasingly hostile toward all things Republican. The old school gentlemanly way that Republicans used to employ does not work in the face of such unabashed biased attacks from almost every angle. GWB was a perfect example of such. He focused grouped all of his messaging, and by all accounts played the game of politics the right way. He rose above the fray at almost every turn, and never counter punched versus his detractors, and with the vast 911 Truther movement, he had plenty of nonsense to push back against. What did it get him? He was successfully painted as a bumbling loser. Dont get me wrong, I respect plenty about GWB as a President and I think that for the most part he got a ridiculously bad rap, but his gentlemanly style got him absolutely nowhere.

I personally am tired of the Republican notion that if we stay nice with the press, hopefully they will come around and like us. THEY WON'T. Never has this been more evident than with John Mcain. John Mcain with his almost leftist McCain Feingold Legislation and nonstop attacks on GWB in 2000, become the Republican media darling. He remained the media darling all the way until he got the nomination in 2008, at which point they declared him a wacky off the reservation far-rightist. Of course Mcain was the most milquetoast Republican possible, but that didn't matter, the media narrative was the exact same. You could say the same thing about Romney.

My sincere question to you is what highly skilled Republican politician are you looking at as an example when you yearn for such?

With the current state of the press, it seems to me like the days of the gentleman Republican being successful are highly unlikely. With a fawning press a Democrat can have the luxury of being gentlemanly, but that is not a luxury afforded to modern-day Republicans. The mere fact that Trump has been able to be as combative with the press as he is AND still be elected, in my mind, displays a POLITICAL SKILL that is almost incomparable. The media has always been hardcore leftist while pretending to be middle of the road. Of course people that follow politics have always known about this bias, but to middle of the road dont pay attention to politics type people who tend to be the difference in all elections, they mistakenly believed that the media was middle of the road. Trump has single-handedly exposed the hardcore left bias to virtually everyone, and us Republicans will forever owe him a debt of gratitude for doing as much.

To me, for all of his flaws, Trump has taught Republicans that they can fight back, have a spine, and still be successful. Nowhere is this more evident than with Lyndsey Graham. Which version of Lyndsey Graham do you prefer.....circa 2013 Lyndsey Graham, or 2019 Lyndsey Graham? For me, the choice is obvious, and we have Trump to thank for that transformation.

Sincerely, what current Republican politician is the epitome in what you seek when you say "political skills"?

So three of the four will work on fixing their own states?

Why do you feel the need to support this kind of obvious stupidity? I get it - you are R, and a Trump supporter. But you don't need to follow the leader, right or wrong.

I don't care what he says or how he says it. I only care what he is doing policy wise.

I'm an independent and didn't vote for Trump. I also read quotes in their full context. States aren't countries.

Look back at the treads on this board that mention AOC in the title - 80% of them are posted by Trump supporters.
Nope - the right wing has created the celebrity of these women.

So that's why right wing pundits could never stop yaking about how naive and stupid they were to cover how naive and stupid Trump is....?

Great economy, lowest unemployment in all demographics, increased manufacturing, rising wages, enforcing the law on the border. Which one of these terrible things has you triggered?

Trump is the leader of the free world, but acts more like he thinks he is a dictator - Trump is a narcissist with a fragile ego, and everything has to be about Trump

Negative coverage by right wingers is what gave these four more credence to the left. Trump and his FanBoys made these four the celeb cause of the day. This is Trump and his FanBoys fault. You gave them street cred by elevating them to celebrity status because of your non-stop mentioning their names.
