This is the moment that I wish I was the biggest donor to Fresno State.......the Board would be finding a way to fire this socialist pig......

Not according to the university. She can be as hateful as she wants even going so far as to wish death upon people while taunting her employer and her employer will still allow her to be on the payroll. So while I wouldn't really say her employer supports her comments they do think it's acceptable professional behavior. I still think she's going to find her tenure there harder than it was before she posted those comments.

    I support her free speech.

In fact, I support all of the staff tweeting out their own personal feelings regarding Barbara Bush, Trump, and conservatives in general.

Let's get it all out there libs.

I would think Fresno has a handbook and code of conduct that covers the actions of employees on and off the job, most places do.

I might agree with you, however what we might feel is being professional either she or the school may be of a different opinion.

I would wager that their donations from alumni will suffer.

Do you feel the same outrage for Roger Stone that you do this Professor?

I don't think that Randa Jarrar should be fired, but SOME sort of disciplinary action SHOULD be taken.

I happen to agree with you, however the first amendment doesn't take that into account.

My guess is that the university felt they could not fire her because of the tenure provisions, possible in a contract. Though according to the article, they claimed they did not disclipline her because of "protected free speech under the US Constitution".

Folks have a right to free speech, but you don't have the right to free speech and necessarily keep your job, unless you have a contractual or other right to it.

The professor has every right to express her opinions about the Bush family or anything else , but her statements like she is happy "the witch is dead" go beyond expressing a political opinion and are just rude, hateful, and disrespectful. Absent some contractual obligation, she should have been fired for it IMO.

This is from Fresno's website on their code of conduct. I was unable to find any complete version of what the staff is required to follow.

    100% incorrect.

Most colleges would refuse to hire someone with conservative views in the first place.

Let us hope the donors and alumni decide to discipline the university instead. I know if it was my school it would never see another penny from me if they allowed something like this. I imagine there must be some alumni from that school that feel the same...

Ever hear of Bob Jones University? Or Regent University? There's plenty more that are conservative and their teachers hired reflect the viewpoints of the University/college.

The poster generalized it by saying colleges; not private or public. Hence my response.

Interesting find. The statement from the college was that Jarrar did not violate any policy so either the college turned a blind eye to this or they don't think hate speech qualifies as "fundamental values".

I did a quick google and found that the US Service Academy's are considered very conservative and are not private institutions.

That makes since to me since military and defense is often associated with a conservative slant.

Many companies require high profile employees to keep a lid on making stupid hateful comments because of the notion that they represent their companies 24/7. Politicians and political appointments frequently have to step down because of comments they made in the past but were dug up today.

This woman represents Fresno State and the tolerating of her comments reflects poorly on that college and their values. It's obvious they tolerate hate speech, the very thing many on the left are adamantly against.
