I don't believe you! You are the agent of the Putin propaganda machine ...none of your denials are proven or else you would put them down here for us to examine....so where in St Petersburg is your troll/fake news headquarters located????
If you hadn't mentioned Assad specifically, then it would have been almost impossible to determine if you were talking about the Russia or the US.
The hypocrisy of the US political class is simply amazing. The same week that Putin won the election, the US was hosting an actual dictator from Saudi Arabia. The US political class has no problem with propping up dictatorships when it's in their interests. Their condemnations of Putin are totally insincere and are meant only for the mass consumption of dupes.
Saudi Arabia is a monarchy. They are open about it and dont pretend to have fake elections where a candidate runs unopposed and true opposition is either in prison or dead.
Please explain the effective difference between formally "annexing" a territory and invading, occupying, and controlling a territory.
AKA, a dictatorship. So the reason the US political class opposes Putin isn't because he's a "dictator" or whatever, but because he refuses to admit it?
Diffference is huge. Even if you control the territory de facto, you will eventually leave. No borders are altered. Formal annexation is a totally different animal.
But until they leave, there is no effective difference. If anything, Russia's annexation of Crimea was bloodless, whereas the US invasion, occupation, and control of countries like Iraq was incredibly destructive and violent. But instead of looking at the actual effects of the actions in question, you focus on the labels ascribed to those actions.
Who cares what the US did? Russia illegally annexed a territory and illegally changed borders. This action was not recognized by almost all countries, and was, in fact, condemned. Russia is garbage.
Lots of people. US outrage cannot be taken seriously by anyone with a cursory understanding of international relations. It's completely phony.
With your grandmother?? Check this, I found it in a German forum... How many candidates do you see, who also ran for president? Seven (7) I see! Better eat your words now!
Putin is obviously an authoritarian ruler. But he also has tons of support from the Russian people. The two are not mutually exclusive concepts. The real question is: Why do you even care? Shouldn't you be more worried about the authoritarianism right here at home? Does fixating on Russia's internal flaws make it easier for you to ignore the internal flaws right here in America?
